Default Relay Control Module

Hello,
Is it a good idea to replace my RCM on my 2005 with 23,444 miles? I have no symptoms other then the horn will not honk with key off.

thanks, Denny

I would install a new one and keep your old one in the trunk. At 50k, I would replace the crankshaft position sensor and keep the old one for a spare.

The horn not honking with the key off is how the car was designed.
It's stupid but that's how they designed the car.

If you send the RCM to DJ, he will replace the relays, reflow solder and add a mod where the horn will honk with the key off.

I sent him my bad one, but I also bought a new one. My "DJ fixed" one is my spare.

I have a couple thousand miles less than you. I still run on the original RCM. I do have a few spare parts including RCM in the trunk.

I agree with pizzaguy, I would get a new RCM to have as a spare. I have sent my RCM out to Tighed1 and he refurbished it. Now my horn works without the key in the ignition. I have the new one as a spare in my trunk.
This is something you should do sooner than later. You don't want to be stuck on the side of the road when it fails.
Also, you should carry a spare crank position sensor (BOSCH only).

When I purchased my SRT I sent my RCM to D.J. Tighe and purchased a new one. This is what he found: "Received. Refurbished. Returned.
Poor solder joints. Burnt air pump relay contacts. Applied the Me So Horny mod." And my car was running fine. After reading all the posts on this site on things that are weak links I also replaced the Crankcase position sensor, did the sticky key, changed the steering stabilizer, trans fluid, and other items.

Denny. Email me at tighed1@hotmail.com for the refurbishing information.
With a refurbished RCM the only reason to have a spare is to be able to help a fellow Crossfire owner with their RCM problem!
