One small annoyance (or perhaps a symptom of one of my bigger issues) is that I occasionally hear a clicking sound coming from behind the glove box.

it sounds like a Geiger Counter, and assume it’s a switch of some sort flipping on and off in rapid succession. I can’t reproduce it when it’s stationary with the hood up, and usually hear it when at a stop light or at low speed (less road noise perhaps).

aside from my car being irradiated, what lives back there that would make that noise?

could it be from the BCM or one of the other things in that box?

Have you changed the climate position **** to see if the noise changes? There is a vacuum line going to a damper under the battery.

 

Inspect the vacuum line under the battery. Replace any section compromised by age/battery acid.
If the clicking continues, it's the climate control module - find a "donor" car (that is no issue with this clicking) and take the climate module out of it.

Or....... learn to ignore the sound.

I’ve not tried changing the **** positions when it makes the noise. I’ll also test that next time it happens.

 

Have you replaced your cabin air filter? If you have a lot of leaves or junk in there, it might be hitting the blower fan behind the glove box.

Mine has the same clicking sound when first started (no noise in the car, like the radio). It has always done this since I stopped using the stereo while driving (many many years ago). Have heard of this before, some have suggested it is an electric solenoid behind the glove box controlling a vacuum line. Turning the fan on the first position has stopped that clicking every time. When I start the car and hear the clicking, I turn the fan to position 1 and I hear a 'damper' type noise within the dash somewhere behind the glove box. Bingo, I do not hear the clicking any more (and the car is still quiet). Good luck!

I haven’t yet been able to pull the battery to check the vacuum line. That’s next on the agenda (after I take care of some other things piling up in the garage).
