Default Water in boot help!

Hey guys,

I have water built up in the boot, it’s stopped the central locking working and I need to drain the water that’s gathered in there before I do anything with is. Does anyone know if there’s a boot (trunk) plug or way to drain it?

Take all of the styrofoam out.
There are two small plugs located in the wheel wells. Remove them and leave them out. Also dry out the trunk floor and use Damp-Rid or a dehumidifier to make sure all of the moisture is gone.
If your CLP has water damage you will have to replace it with a new one. Make sure you get one with at least 12 inches of wiring harness. Then you will have to cut the old harness and splice it to the new one.
Water wicks up the braided copper wires and will cause problems in the future. See picture for location of black plug by the CLP.

Thank you so much for that, really appreciated! Will do that as soon as I’m home!

any idea how I get into the storage compartment between the seats? It’s locked tight and has valuables in there - fuel cap door and boot now opened manually - roof I’m not even attempting to try and do anything with until I’ve pulled the inside out so just this compartment now.

thanks again was a great help especially with the photo

The convertible top and all those locks are not going to work until you replace the CLP/SSM and last 2-3 feet of the wiring harness (including all connectors).

That is all there is to it. You need the CLP/SSM and last 2-3 feet of the wiring harness, the wiring harness MUST come from a ROadster, not a Coupe.

Hi Emmanib2003,
Not sure this is easier than getting a "new" CLP (I think new means one that isn't water damaged off of ebay or from a local junk yard), but the yellow lines coming out of the clp are pneumatic lines that are either pressurized or evacuated by the clp to open and close the locks. I don't remember if vacuum opens or closes the locks, but you can try both. Disconnect the pneumatic lines (3 yellow lines - one is for the drivers door, one is for the passengers door, the gas filler and the center console, and one is for the truck) from the clp and connect them to a pump. I would try vacuum first since you don't want to over pressurize the system and destroy stuff (you can apply as high a vacuum as you want), To make sure you have enough vacuum in the system, work on the drivers door lock first - it can be manually open and closed with the key - the other locks won't respond to the drivers door being opened or closed, but you're just trying to verify you have enough vacuum or pressure to open or close the locks. If you do use pressure, make sure to set your regulator to very low initially (~5psi) and work your way up. I don't know what the pressure should be, but I would assume fairly low since the CLP pump is tiny.
Good Luck, keep us informed
Sincerely
Jerry

PS. the easy way to get the pneumatic lines off the clp is to unclip the gray block that they go into - the gray block has a black clip in the middle that you partially pull out to unclip the gray block from the clp.
