Default Oil loss

I currently have about 18,000 miles on my car. Before my last oil change (15,000), I had the oil light come on.. I had to put in two quarts of oil. I had to add another quart before I had the oil changed. I've looked for any leaks but I can't find any I just took the car in because the oil dip stick is showing 1/2 way down between the lines and I've only put another 3000 miles on it. They did a compression check 190 on all cylinders and said they couldn't find anything wrong. Has any one else had this problem?

did they do a dry and wet compression test? If not, tell them to do it again. If the valve stems/guides/seats are leaking then they will only see it with a wet test.

Good luck!

If its burning that much oil after only 18,000 miles I'd say you've got some serious top-end problems. Did you pull the spark plugs and have a look? It should be pretty easy to determine which cylinder is causing the problem.

Does your dealer have a certified Crossfire tech? If not maybe its time to change dealers.

What would I look for on the spark plugs? I'm what you might call a back yard mechanic would some basic knowledge. It's been very frustrating working with the dealer, but in general I find this to be true of many dealers. That's why I try to do my own work when I can. I only take it to a dealer when it's under warranty or it's over my head.

Try a Mercedes mechanic, they have been working on these engines for years and might know!

Looking at the plugs can tell you a lot about the way the engine (or a particular cylinder) is running. Here are a few links that give some examples:
