Default Intake how to LARGE IMAGES

Ok how to do intake.

You will need,

AVC-11096

This is the silicone elbow I used for intake you will need 2.

I ordered them from: www.summitracing.com $38.39 each.

You will also need some 3” exhaust tubing and mandrel bend a *45 on one end, trim to fit.

You will also need a total of 5 hose clamps at least 3.5”.

I will look for the k&n # I used but any 3” inlet short filter will do.

Ok that should give you a good idea where to start.

Let me know if you have questions…

*** Note!!! Unless you completely gut your air box and modify it there is no way it fit back over the motor.

Ta Da!

I still need to make a heat/splash shield.

my friend who had an s4 had this custom headlight made that allowed air to flow through it. looks like that could be a good idea for this setup. any difference you can feel performance wise? can you post some sound clips?

I think it sounds great. It feels faster but I wont know for sure till I get it to the track.
I don't have the gear to post sound clips. At least any that would be worth listening to.

I think if you made the top part y off and come into two separate intakes, it would be twice as good.

JK, great job, you may have yourself a little side business there...

The how to is so people can do it themselves, I have no plans to make or sell this kit.
I think one pipes is plenty as the pipe is 3" and the maf is 3" It does not neck down anywhere.

There is a simple modification that is good for about 1 hp. Just remove the soft black weather-strip at the rear edge of the hood. This allows high-pressure air from the base of the cowl to get under the hood at the rear of the engine, right where the intake is located. I know what you got, but think about what I just stated.

The downside is that this will increase the temperature of the air brought in through the fresh air vents.

Look familiar? this is my buddy and his SC VW... The ducting travels straight to the throttle body. This is by far the fastest new BUG I've ever seen, he blows by me everytime we're out...

somewhat similar, except it still had a functional headlight. only drawback was that it wasn't xenon like the other side....

Awe look how cute that intercooler is.. haha.

I often think the headlight thing is goofy, but its hilarious when stock hondas do it. Nice intake mod man, my dads thinking of doing that now.

Twice as good looking maybe... Since there is only 1 throttle body only 1 intake tube is necessary. If you have 2 sources of air coming at one another it might cause some turbulence before the throttle body. The whole point is to make the intake more efficient... less is better here.

Hey stryfox, I was thinking about taking your idea one step further, check this out. Some might have seen this setup before on mustangs and it worked really well. It would take some modifications but it would shield the filter from the heat/water plus grab cold air from one of the best airflow places, the bottom of the car. It is from March Performance. Here is a link to the site. There are a couple more options too.

Just be careful you don't go too low to the ground.
My coworker did that with his neon. He got stuck in a rain storm and hit a little puddle, you guessed it, blown motor...

Wink D.I.Y. is fun but the AMG set-up is great

Well if y'all just to have a "hardware store" looking CAI system go for it !

As for me I think the AMG/factory guys already have this thing figured out.

From my previous posts I've posted part numbers. Pictures are in my member's gallery. Plenty of cool air, factory/OEM fit and finish, dealer techs won't freak out when doing routine warranty work, race officials won't bump you up a class for aftermarket mods etc. Seriously, this set-up feeds a 350 horse AMG motor no problems, it's overkill for a N.A. 3.2 motor.

Here are the part numbers for this set-up...

Air intake tubes from radiator area to air boxes, Benz and Chrysler parts numbers as follows...

A 112 094 15 82
05135452AA

and

A 112 094 14 82
05135451AA

The rest are M-B/AMG numbers on the parts...

MAF "Y" pipe...A 112 090 01 29
Rt. Flex Tube...02 6367 A
Lf. Flex Tube...02 6367 B
Rt. Airbox...A 112 090 1001
Lf. Airbox...A 112 090 0901

Cheers,

Slim
