Default New XF owner...

Hello! Two questions!

1.) I recently purchased a used '04 XF 6 Speed and I noticed while getting on it from a dead stop the car will take off great but will quickly fall on its face in first gear and again in second gear. Is the car supposed to do this to limit wheel slippage? I turned off the traction control and did it again and got the same results but not as bad.

2.) My previous car was a '04 BMW Z4 and if I held in the traction control button for 10-15 seconds it would completely disable the traction control. Does the XF have the same feature?

Thanks,
Jim

Dunno about 1, i have an auto.

But 2. No you can't completely turn TC off, but if you just press it will keep it off most of the time. For example i turned it off in a icy parking lot and i was doing like 3 revolution spins, but with it back on it would only make a slow u-turn, but if you are spinning wheels it is likely to kick in.

When it falls on its face, does the T/C light flash? That would be an indication of the engine's power being cut to gain traction. With the T/C off, I can chirp the tires into 2nd without any interference from the T/C.
