AT Tranny stuck in gear
AT Tranny stuck in gear
Hey Guys,
I have an 04 Crossfire with 35,XXX miles on it. Last week i was driving home and noticed the car was stuck in gear (autostick wouldn't work either), so i got off the HWY and turned the car off restart and everything thing is fine. This morning I drive to work and all is dandy I get off the HWY and notice the car is stuck in a high gear, park the car go work blah blah. So I go to get a coffee in the afternoon and the car is stuck in 1st autostick wont work. I started my crawl home and on the way stopped to get some ATF, so i put a liter in still does not solve the problem.
Anyways I have a check engine light now and I'm going to bring it in but it'll have to wait until the weekend... Any ideas on what this could be?
Cheers,

I was talking to my buddy who is a MB mechanic, he had a guesstimate that the Tran Control Mod was upwards of $1000. Really hoping its something minor. Bringing it in on Friday to have the code read.
I'll let you know

Local dealer wants $548 for the TCM. Mine is being replaced under warranty but the TCM is on indefinate back order. No telling when the part will be in.
If the TCM turns out to be the problem I have a TCM for a NA XF.
UPDATE: TCM was SOLD to another member.

Re: AT Tranny stuck in gear
Any answers on this yet? My 05 did the same thing yesterday...stuck in high gear and couldn't shift into anything else with the autostick. Drove down the road, stopped at a light, and everything worked fine when I took off. I had been shifting manualy right before this happened.
Re: AT Tranny stuck in gear
Anyone who sticks more oil in their transmission and then expects to get warranty work done may be sadly disappointed.
The dealership may use that as an excuse to avoid the warranty work.
They may say it was overfilled and that caused the problem, you would then be obliged to prove what came first the oil fill or the transmission problem, good luck on that.
Remember that a lot more paperwork is required for warranty work and they get paid less per hour for it. Chrysler has to OK warranty payments, it is much easier and financially beneficial for them to swipe your credit card. $$$$$$$$$$

Re: AT Tranny stuck in gear
The code coming up was P0715 Turbine/Speed Sensor, so I had a friend (MB mechanic) replace the electric plate (AT oil, electric plate & new filter = $312) but he had a cheap OBDII scanner and it wouldn't remove the code. Going to go have the code removed today.
Anyone know if I will need to have Transmission Adaptation after replacing the electric plate? or should the car be able to relearn the gears on its own?

Re: AT Tranny stuck in gear
FWIW, not talking about the tranny, I usually run 87 Octane fuel. No knock, no degradation in mileage or performance that I can tell at all, so fuel is the last thing I would be concerned with. Somewhere along the way, your car is merely in limp mode, and my bet would be the TCM.
