Default Cam shaft sensor

In regards to the camshaft sensor, what tools are needed to replace? Can i somehow get Chrysler to warranty this for me, Im still covered under the ext service contract. What are the symtoms of it being bad? I am driving from Michigan to Florida and back soon.
thanks in advance

Tools : E8 Torx socket ( or in a pinch, 6mm / 5/16 socket )

Symptoms : sucker won't start, or if already running - it dies suddenly.

Warranty most likely won't cover unless the sensor has already gone bad.
( or you are buddies with the service tech )

This sensor is a 'Hall Effect' transistor that is triggered by a magnet in the end of the camshaft.
As such, they usually just quit suddenly, no sputtering etc .

On the other hand, the Crankshaft Position Sensor is an 'inductive' sensor, sputtering, failure to start at times can occur from this one.
They should be treated as a set, when you replace one, replace the other one too, and keeps spares in your travel kit along with enough tools to replace them yourself if you are in the middle of the boonies ( and don't have AAA )

These sensors are not too much trouble based on the posts on this forum, the crankshaft position sensor and the relay control module are the worst problems seen.

At least the CPS sensor is fairly easy to change. coming home from the Dragon I lost the speed sensor that is INSIDE the transmission and is not sold separately. you have to buy the whole conductor plate. Symtoms are stuck in one gear, no speedo, plenty of lights lit on the dash! since I ahve to drop the pan to fix, I am doing a full service this weekend. I am even going to fix the famous trans leak that I have never had and install the blue top solonoids while I am in there. I want to nominate the speed sensor to worst problem status!

It is the correct part. Just a bad one I guess. Yes they are sending the same part number. James
