Air Bag Recall
I thought the recall didn't effect us. This says 2006 and 2007.

OK. When I saw this the other day, it was for '06-'07 SLK's.
Ours are based on the previous generation SLK.
IDK!!!
Chrysler-Fiat is reallllllly going to hate this!
"Crossfire? What's a Crossfire?"

I have a 2006 roadster. I've done everything I can to keep it out of the dealer's shop since the fiasco back in Nashville TN.
Fiat may hate it yes, but I hate it more.
oh well.

I hope this doesn't end up having my 2007 Coupe getting recalled. There is a Chrysler dealer here (north-side of Greenville) that originally sold & serviced these cars. Maybe I'll get lucky, if the coupe is included in the recall.
The other Chrysler dealer here (southern side of Greenville) originally was a Dodge & Ram dealer. They took over the Chrysler dealership when Chrysler closed down the original south-side Greenville dealer that sold & serviced these cars. So these new guys don't know squat about these cars!

Presumably it is a fault in the manufacture of the air bags that were made in a particular time frame.
So parts with the same part number may or may not have the problem, it depends when the bag was made and 2006 seems to be the start date of the problem.

Had the drivers side bag replaced in my 08 Magnum last week. Also had an ignition switch recall, they replaced the switch and gave me two nice new clean fobs. That was a good deal because one of my old ones I couldn't make work anymore. Had another minor thing done and they gave me employee discount on parts and labor. I worked there for 22 years but have been gone for 15. There, you see what wonderful people the dealers can be.
And no way in HELL will my garage queen sit all day at a dealer waiting for some unprofessional, unsupervised, minimum-wage, high school drop out to tear the steering wheel trim apart.....
Later,
Received the formal recall notice from FCA (Fiat Chrysler America) regarding the driver airbag module in my 2007 Crossfire. Recall notice indicates 2007 & 2008 Crossfires are included. Apparently, Daimler-Chrysler switched to Takata as a supplier for the last 2 model years. Probably to save costs - don't think that has worked out well for Fiat-Chrysler.
Anyway, recall notice says parts are not available yet. As soon as parts are available, a follow-up notice will be sent to me to schedule an appointment to have the driver airbag module replaced by a local dealer.
So in the mean time, we drive around in a car that potentially can kill occupants if & when the driver-side air bag deploys. The recall notice actually states this failure mode effect! Lucky they're looking after my safety! Yeah, Right!

Well, then you have choices :
1. sue them if the driver airbag kills you.
2. unplug the driver airbag and sue them if the lack of it results in your death.
pretty simple, huh ?

Attached is a PDF showing status of the airbag recall for my Crossfire. You can go to this website (fcarecalls.com) and type in your VIN. Webpage will let you know if your Crossfire is included in the recall.

Only simple solution is to have the airbag replaced by a reputable dealer. ...a reputable dealer - Now that's the rub!
a) JSK: it helps to have friends in low places.
b) received the letter. First for my XF but have had 4 or 5 (lost count) for my '12 Jeep. None of the things they fixed were giving me problems.
c) In general I like the dealership I use and trust them to do certain work. Like oil changes.
d) Also I have an account at Mopar Owner Connect ( https://www.moparownerconnect.com/OC...nersLogin.aspx ) where I can check on my service history as well as any outstanding recalls. (Used to be you could check any Chrysler VIN but they seem to have fixed that).
