Default Dash Cam suction mount replaced

I got fed up remounting the suction cup of my wifes dashcam to the windshield so I decided to modify it by replacing the suction mount with 3M reclosable fasteners.
I determined that the body was an ABS type material as it dissolved with acetone, I then made a round disk out of 1/8” ABS sheet I had. Then removed the pin that held the rubber suction cup and lever to the dashcam mount.
I used acetone to mount the disk to the stripped mounting plate and when it had dried I stuck two 1.5" 3M fasteners onto the disk.
Now I just have to clean the windshield with alcohol, remove the tape over the glue on the fasteners that attach to the windshield, position the camera correctly hand press into place.

I recommend that everyone has a dash cam, mind you if you cause the accident it will come back to haunt you if you do not remove the chip and lose it. 😉 If the other car has a dash cam you are screwed anyway.
I have dash cam in my CF and will put one that faces to the rear in as well, I will mount it on the frame of the OEM trunk cover, it could go on the top of the bulkhead but the frame is handy.

Easy Peasy.

I have dashcams for all three of my vehicles. None to the rear, I figured if anyone hits me there it would be quite obvious what happened. Anyway, I also have two spares (comes from when they were only 11 bucks each on fleabay). If you get a cam for your car, get em cheap and get at least 1 spare. You don't have to see how many legs are on the bug that is on the side or front of the car that hit you or you hit (cross traffic), all you need is the color of the traffic light when you are in the intersection OR what lane you were in when you got hit. Everything else, is fluff! One of the things that you just need when you need it, and glad you have one at that time!

When hit in the rear at least you can deny you backed into the car that came into contact with you. For the price they are it is worth the effort.
