Default Again...how to secure the beige trunk panel

Hi folks!

This has been ongoing for a while now and Everytime I open my trunk it bothers me that the beige trunk plastic panel (left and right) just kind of hangs off.
I know the issue is the little white clips that break off but I never really found a solution...I ordered clips that were posted on this forum at one point. I believe they are Mercedes SL clips....but even though they fit into the hole they don't really secure the panels in place.
AutoZone doesn't have anything either.

I'm running out of ideas. Can it be glued in? Velcroe'd in or does someone know where I can actually find clips that snap this darn thing in place?

Thanks for any tips. Would love to get this resolved finally.

Nick

They are a little tricky to install. Yes it is probably the white clips but there are other places the panels attach to, no you will not find any that fit at Autozone. The aftermarket ones are cheap but will break easily unless you have them perfectly center when trying to install, some have suggested using vaseline but that doesn't really work either. In my experience it is worth buying the genuine ones from Chrysler part number 68006504AA or Mercedes part number 0119887678 and they can be reused most of the time if you have to remove the panels and reinstall them.

Concur with ronman; the Mercedes clips will work; The panel must be aligned precisely to get those clips in there respective positions. It is not easy, but it can be done assuming your panels are not warped. I have had mine off three times and do not want to it again.

I was sent a link to the original clips through Autohaus. They look good so can't wait for them to get here and give this a shot.
any tips on how to best align the panel or how to make life a bit easier?
Do you take out the carpet side wall underneath as well? Is it easier to clip in the panel that way and then re-install the carpet wall?

these clips break on my 04 coupe. This is the most pain in the butt panel to re-install. Im ordering some new clips .

Amazon clips try putting in the MB part number, you can get 50 pcs for under 20 bucks

They will be aftermarket clips and not as easy to install and will break very easily.

Perhaps they will break, but so did the originals. Fell apart or bent or missing. Too bad you have to go to such lengths just to inspect the air pump.
I love my Crossfire, but it is one thing after another. PS I drilled a one inch hole in the foam so I can see the drain hole without removing anything.
Tnks for the reply.

Update. The Amazon "Mercedes" clips are indeed crappy and break easily as noted by Ronman, but they do fit. I finally managed to get the panel in place after repeatedly snapping and bending the new clips. My only suggestion is to remove the seatbelt cover trim. That allows you to align the far left upper tab that pushes into a metal grabber clip at the window. Then insert the plastic clip below it, that gets you started. Regardless a real PITA, It fits securely now but I never want to do this again.

@mistykup The correct clips and their Mercedes numbers are listed in post #2. Yes, they are expensive, but they work.
