Regarding the SKREEM problem, would it be advisable to put a battery tender on the car when it is parked? Does this minimize the chances of the ECU and the SKREEM box from forgetting each other? Or is the SKREEM problem going to happen eventually, no matter what?

My local key shop orders the fob. When it arrives you come in with your fob and he programs it. 152.60

That's assuming he has a KR55 Keymaker. I'm from Michigan, searched all over and believe me they are hard to find. If you find a locksmith that can cut and programmed you are going to pay $300+.
