Im watching the postbox each day for a parcel from New Jersy, USA. I've aranged with one of our american forum members khanable to do an exchange. He's been after changing his factory fit Cup Holder over to the black plastic stowage bin that that I have in my car. I'm not keen on the appearance of the bin and prefer the smooth lines of the closed cup holder. Ive read the reports on the cup holer, and if it gives me any grief - Im just gonna glue it shut!
PS anyone know how to remove the centre console!

Yes thats the idea, was hoping it might be fitted in through the top, but I reckon the centre consol will need to be lifted up, not all the way out - just enough to slip in from underneath. Just looking for the fixing at the front - uugh - too much plastic!

 

Thanks to khanable (Mike) in New Jersey USA, Im now a fully fledged member of the "Crossfire with Cup Holder Mob" Mike removed the C/Holder from his 2006 Oyster Gold Coupe' and sent it over the pond to me in exchange for my stowage bin which will finish up in his car. It seems that the C/holders where fitted to the early UK cars (53/04/54 reg) but after that they seemed to have been replaced by the plastic bin, which Im not fond of.
The USA LTD versions continued with the C/holder as standard.
It took about 15 mins to fit it; the centre console had to come out, which it does quite easily once you know where the 4 screws are located, remove the rubber cover on the parking brake lever, and lift it out. No need to disconect any wires/switches, as there's plenty of spare length on the wires to lift the cosole clear.
