Hi, I was about to order some front ones and the following stockist in the US www.tvtdesign.com. said he had them in stock when I contacted him on the 17th June and charges $8 to ship. Making a total of $83 for the fronts.

The UK "equivalents" are EBC. The only thing is it depends on what you are after. True competition pads often don't work very well when cold. I have chosen Rotex specifically because it seems they reduce brake dust a lot and are reported as acting like standard pads at cold temperatures as well as when hot.

I've never found a Uk stockist of Rotex, but if anyone knows of one let me know ! Another piece of advice is that on this forum there are threads that suggest some, if not all, the Rotex on e-bay are cheap chinese copies and don't reduce brake dust.

That's all I have found out so far, and will be placing an order shortly. I am going to the third UK meet and this is one of the subjects I will be looking for others experience of.

Paul

PS - Further to this I have since found that there are cheaper "versions" of Rotex pads available from other makers so its important to check if its the genuine product. As beeblebrox points out there are copies out there. Either Mintex or EBC are reputable British manufacturers and their pads are widley available at good prices.

So far, I'm happy with the Disc Italia pads from brakeworld. The dust is gone, but they have been a little bit squeaky. I think they're getting better the longer I break them in. Good luck, and happy driving.

found this link about the EBC which shows their opinion on the effectiveness of the EBC range at different brake temperatures.

My thoughts on brake pad replacment. The original pads fitted on my 2006 have excellent stopping power, which were recently tested in an emergency stop on the motorway added by the rattling ABS.

There is (in my view) minimal dust produced and if the wheel in protected with a wax seal or similar, then a regular wheeel wash will remove any accumulation of brake dust. I can understand if the vehicle is used on the track etc, but for day to day use I'm more than happy with the standard pads, and would rather spend the additional money on adding a few extra's.

The third meet is almost here, I have arranged a sunny weekend, so don't forget your shades!!

Ken.

I live 20 miles south of Chatsworth and even though we have seen some rain, it hasn't been too bad today. The annual Lichfield "cars in the park" was dry for a few hours while I was down there, you can't always tell by the forecast . BTW I spoke to the organisors and they would welcome a Crossfire section there next year, I will bring details next weekend and some photos of this weekend to show what it is like. We may be able to hold a public show of Crossfires next 4th and 5th July at this event.

Had an interesting conversation about tyre sizes, brakes etc today with a local supplier who was familar with the crossfire, will chat with folk next weekend.

cheers,

Paul

It sounds like an interesting thing to go to. I used to go to the big show at the Town and Country Show in Stoneleigh near Coventry and spend most of my time looking at the cars. This was a good 15 years ago now, and it would be over the August Bank Holiday.

It's still going, and they still have cars. Clicky

It appears to be a bigger thing than the Lichfield show, and appears to be more competitive. I would also hazard that you need to be a proper club if you want to do a club stand as opposed to a loose gathering of people.

Get the Rotex pads and not the EBC ones.
I had the EBC ones as Brakeworld didn't send to the U.K. at the time and they were just as dusty as the original pads and they don't get a good review either.
You wont regret getting the Rotex ones as there is more or less no dust.
I laugh when I see a Crossfire out on the road and the wheels are really dusty.
You only need the front ones as I bought the rears as well but never fitted them.

Norrie,
that is what I have heard. As I am both lazy and hate the fact that my wheels are dirty the next day after cleaning them ( I do a lot of miles ) you have convinced me to get the Rotex. And even taking into account shipping from the US, they are cheaper than standard pads in the UK !! How does that work ???
