Petrocelli,
had mine done last week, cost me £620. The extra items over and above the standard service ( normally costs me £240) are :
  • air filter
  • fuel filter
  • spark plugs
  • brake fluid ( every 2 years )

Every five years I know this because mine is also due.
To make it a bit easier on my pocket I have bought the service parts this month and will have the service done next month.
I got all the parts from Cardiff Jeep as I got not to bad a discount.
I've still to buy the oil but I get that from Costco as it's a lot cheaper.
This car is very expensive to service although as you have already said a cambelt change would have cost a lot what our cars dont need.

Do you guys watch that show Auto Traders? Wheeler Dealer is on too, is that on still in the UK?

It's on here one HD Discovery or something like that. Is that Mike guy popular in the UK?

As I have a bit more time nowadays I will be pleased to do any of the Crossfire services if that would help anyone - you can buy the service parts yourself, bring the car round and save a small fortune! These cars are actually very simple to maintain - its the dealers labour chargs thats ripping into our wallets, and it only takes them 50 mins to do a 2 spanner service!
Of course if you want the dealers stamp in the book - then go and pay their prices! This dos'nt bother me as my car is just out of warranty and worth about the same money as a 5 year old VW Polo.

Hi Ken - yes it will be great to meet and catch up with a good natter! Lets hope for decent turnout and at least this one is a bit nearer for you - as you must have clocked up the most miles last year!
Cheers & see you soon!

There is no Chrysler dealer in Edinburgh now but as it's out of warranty I get my mate to do it.
Although I could do it myself he works for himself and only charges £25 an hour and he's a really good mechanic who works on cars every day when I've not officially worked on cars for 19 years as I now work on trains.
My car only has 18,000 miles on it but I reckon it's still worth getting it done properly.
Yes it's worth about £6000-£8000 now but I don't intend to sell it because I wouldm't be able to afford another car like it as I would hae to put a lot of money towards it.
Also the car still lokks like new so why bother plus I still get a lot of comments and in fact earlier on today someone who pulled up behind me at the lights I seen them pearing over the steering wheel to try and make out what kind of car it is.
I have no idea why these cars dont sell weel and have lost so much money.

Norrie.

thanks guys, really helpfull.I plan to get a 4 or 5 year old xf so so I will make a point of making this a pricing issue if its not been done.
Norrie,I don't think there is any mystery over why these cars have the popularity of a concrete life jacket- no badge appeal!
Not sure if its the same in your neck of the woods but south of Watford if a car of this type doesn't cut it in the golf club car park its dead in the water.
Its true to say nothing with a Chrysler badge will cut it in said car park, sad really but snobbery overides engineering integrity every time.
For me ,buying a 4/5 yo car its great but it does mean huge depreciation for the unfortunates buying new or newish.

That costs £380, what is the labor/hour cost? With no warranty I would do it myself as it all seems a bit pricey to me. I know prices have gone up a lot since I left England 45 years ago but that seems a lot for those items even including labor, sorry labour.

Hi,

My roadster is up for its big service. I have been quoted £620 by 2 local Chrysler dealers, yet online servicing quote a lot less. eg prestige services quotes 400, others as low as 250.

Love the car, done 32k, and is 4 yrs old.

What don't these internet services do?

Steve

Well - for a start they dont rip you off on labour cost like SOME Chrysler dealers do.

You are out of warranty so go for best deal and ask for all the old parts to be saved for you to take away - then you know its all been done.

They will also stamp your recoed book as well!

Maybe they give you a 'virtual' service and you do not even have to leave home.
