Default Angel Eyes Build/Fitting

Hi All

Day One

Started my Angel eyes build today , I have so far cut the two lens off the headlamps , I have been told now that the glue/sealant will not soften when heated ,So cutting the lens off is the only option , Cutting the lens off do'nt sound as bad as it was .

more to come

Cheers

Hi All

Day Two

These are all the parts i require to complete the build , Having the inner back plate + indicator surround painted body colour on Friday ( I know more Red but what can i do ). So i will leave the paint to dry over the weekend & carry on fitting the light rings to the chrome surrounds , I will be grinding the tops off the chrome surround to produce a flat area giving me more contact area for the glue & giving one less break line behide the light rings producing a cleaner look

Hi Ken-UK

I can tell you now that the wiring is not heating up at all , I have put the other two bulbs in now & the amount of light they kick out is on par with other production cars , but no brighter . This could be the way to go keeping the normal H7 type setup , I 'll keep you posted.

See ya at the end of the month

Hi All

Day three

Ok we now have Red back plates & flats on top of the chrome/silver rings , A word of warning the silver coating can be removed very easily , I managed to damage this silver coating by just masking up to protect the silver from glue ,So now i need to paint the silver .

I want to see the finished look on the car with the red inserts. Reminds me of the new C6.

Hi Ken-UK

We will see about the 30-31 May meet . Need to think about the switches & wiring them up ,

James1549 You need to chill m8 one step at a time , We all would like to see them installed & working , I'm still not 100% sure about the Red back plates but going with them for now , they give off a small purple reflection .

<interlude>

It’s an interesting mod. If you don’t want to change your car, this LED/Plastic effect can be used for other things. I like this greetings card idea.

And now back to our regular programming....

Hi Paul
Yea i looked into afew ways of doing this with plastic that lights up , I phoned one place & they told me that there lights will not show up in full day light ( ok if you keep your Xfire in the garage all day ). You need alot of light for day time driving lights . Anyway nearly there one more push this week & job done on to the next idea .
Bigfoot Xfire anyone or Fold-away roof for a coupe ,

Some people say i'm full of it , i say its just i have too much time to think

Hi all
Well the Angel Eyes Headlamp are installed but not wired up completly yet ,

These pictures were taken in bright sunshine , the lights when turn on need alittle time to come up to full power , Im looking into how i will be wiring them up , But i have some useful ideas from an USA member , So nearly there , Still not sure about the Red back plate maybe should have gone with Black/Silver . I will live with them for afew weeks & see how i feel ,

I think they are not bad for the first off , you can always improve on the next set .

Cheers

Hi Andy..Like you I wonder if a different coloured back plate may have shown the angle eyes off better than the red...but time will tell. That aside, I would imagine you have the only UK crossfire with that set-up

Hope to touch base at the next meet 4/5 July

Cheers

Nice job Andy, I like what you've done! Any trouble sealing the units back up?

Hi Bluecoupe

No worries with resealing as i only used a very thin blade (2mm) to open them up to start with , you do not lose any depth so they fit right back together , just make sure you use enought sticky stuff to cover minimum 5mm each side of the cut line , its all under the rubber surround anyway ,so not seen .

Cheers All

Andy
