Post Change in weather

I believe we over in the Uk are in for some bad weather snow ice and the like if its going to be anything like last year I do not want to be caught out I had to drive around with a case of clothes and towels in the boot to get the weight down on the back wheels
I just wondered if anyone had tried the snow socks from auto sock or if anyone could recommend anything better from what I have seen they look the better option to snow chains
