metallic noise !!!
hey people,i seem to have a matalic rattle when i first start the car, when the engine is warm it goes away.i have visited my main dealer so they can look at it, they first started by saying it was one of the cats which they replaced but the noise was still there the next time i started the car up(got a new cat for nothing, bonus!!).I took it back again for them to look at and they got it on the ramps to look underneath, they tapped all the heat shields underneath and one of them did sound like it could be the offending item.they then told me they could"bend" it slightly and that might fix it,and that this was a comon problem on merc 320's/crossfires.the noise itself sounds like a screw bouncing ontop of another matalic object,so ive decided im not having this "its a comon problem answer" im going back to sort it.my question to you wise people is,"what do you think could be causing this?".any help would be great

You may as well insist they change the other cat next (he he) But also (it may sound daft) check for a loose bolt at the conection between the front half and back half of the exhaust sytem about half way under the car. If you want me to check it out take a ride over to Newark and I will look over it. 01636 687552
