Hi Steve(s),
The SRT in NI looks nice - I notice it the other day - having recently bought one, I still can't resist keeping a eye on the market.
Just thought you might be interested to know something of the saga of the Huddersfield (Engage Gear) SRT. I was told some weeks ago that it was sold and that the Autotrader listing was only still running because the boss was away so it hadn't been updated. But maybe that deal fell through so it's become available again.
I know this because I pursued this car originally after it failed to reach its reserve on ebay (@ £7400) and then reappeared with Engage Gear soon afterwards.
I was unable to reach a deal with Engage but in the meantime, the original ebay listing re-appeared - same pics, everything - strange, I thought! But a quick call to the seller established it wasn't a scam listing but that he had two (yes, TWO!) black SRTs with similar mileage and this new listing was for the second car but using the pics of the first one...!
This second car also failed to reach reserve (£6851 this time) so I called the seller again and we did a deal at £8400 - he wouldn't take penny less but compared to what Engage Gear were expecting for the other one, it seemed pretty good for a '56 with only 28.5k. It only needed new front tyres and the washers fixing and is fantastic.
Good luck with NI car - go for it!

Thanks this explains a lot! I gave up on Engage gear after a wast of time. I had no idea they had been dealing with two! They told me the showroom car was being sold on bahalf of the owner. I made a firm offer very close to asking price with imediate bank transfer, but they never came back. So I phoned them and I was not happy with the way I was spoken to, said I was a joker! so I walked. Ignorant gits!

I don't think engage had both cars for sale at the same time, just the first one (the '06) they were selling "on behalf of the owner" (but not making a very good job of it, judging by the way they treated you!). They originally supplied my car to the chap I bought it from (the lucky owner of two), hence their sticker in my rear window - but not for long!
The owner tried both on ebay without success - if he hadn't put reserves on, we could both have got bargains.
So is the engage car sold or not...? Makes you wonder if they actually want to sell it.
Will you be checking out the car in NI? Could well be worth the trip - it looks good and seems to be the only SRT coupe for sale anywhere in the UK at present.
If you do, and you're driving, you'll be virtually passing my door on the way to the ferry at Stranraer - now, I know you're much more of an expert than me but, if you'd like another pair of eyes on the subject, let me know when you're travelling...!

Ha ha yes thats very true Mo - Ive had two Coupes now and must admit though I didnt realy take to the Roadsters for a long time, but they have grown on me.
I was allways concerned about wind noise, water getting in, and the car being cold in winter - but maybe Ive been thinking about my old MGB Roaster too much!!!
Ive never travelled in a roadster and Damien has kindly offered me a spin in his which is handy as he's only 20mins away.
My problem is I realy like the red Xfires and if there had been a red SRT Roadster or Coupe Id have been well made up! I have priced up a colour change and at £3k its not on unless I found a cheap SRT with a very tatty body - thats maybe a project for the future.
Second colour choice is Aero Blue - so better ring that guy in Ireland

CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE 3.2 V6 SRT-6 2DR AUTO Coupe for sale in Newtownabbey | Auto Trader

What is it with these dealers! I just spent a couple of days working on the logistics to buy this SRT in Northen Ireland. So having done the leg work I get to negotiate and agree a deal, and then at the point of HPI Check, transferring a deposit, booking a flight and ferry..........
Then the dealer happens to mention that when I come to HPI it the records will show a banks financial interest in the car.......Aaaggghhhh So when I investigate further I find that the finance company has this car reg number down as a Chrysler Sebring! Ive left the dealer to sort it and come back once its clear!!! One or two others (black roadsters) are about but either high miles or way over the top on price.

Hopefully a simple slip-up by the finance company but rather unprofessional for a dealer not to have that sorted before offering a car for sale.
Although, it seems increasingly common for finance to be outstanding when vehicles are offered for sale - hence the need for HPI, I suppose. Mine was no different but I just paid part of the purchase price (actually most of it) to the finance company to clear their interest in it.

If I hadn't recently got mine, I'd have been seriously interested in this car - hope it's as good as it looks.
Right now, with SRTs, it seems the opposite is true of NAs; coupes are harder to find than roadsters - I know there are actually fewer roadsters but it looks like SRT coupe owners are hanging on to their cars - I can totally understand that!

Well after many phone calls and chasing folks I finally resolved HPI issues and now have a clear HPI report on the irish SRT. It seems its reg number used to be on a Chrysler Sebring over there, and at that time Santander placed "a financial interest" on the Sebringt. Later on the Sebring reg number ends up on this XFire and the Sebring history carried forward with the number! After finaly getting Santander to investigate it they agreed this was result of their mistake and removed the HPI entry completely, then informed HPI and now its clear! Phew what a **** up! So Im off to Belfast next Weds to collect!

Great news - well done - a logical (if slightly unusual) explanation!
The offer's still open to call in your way back to introduce our SRTs to each other. If you're taking the A75 from Cairnryan/Stranraer - you'll pass within about a minute of our front door.
'Course, if you're taking the Liverpool ferry, that's a non-starter...
Let me know - I'd love to see the car - and meet you, of course!
Chris

Thanks and Yep! I have a 285 mile run home once Im off the ferry in Scotland, most of it late at night. I wonder if I can do that on one tank of fuel! The standard XF would do that easy, but this one, Hmm not so sure!
