Laon Historique France May 17th - 20th
Re: Laon Historique France May 17th - 20th
Hi Steve,
Re Your Update, Myself and the other two couple joining us are now booked but as mentioned previously there was no room for us at the Ibis so we are booked in at the Etap (which does have Breakfast facilities, according to their website)

OK cool - apparently its literally adjoining so social side unaffected
Re: Laon Historique France May 17th - 20th
I have just been told one of my Couples won't be able to make this trip now!
So there is an opening if someone wants it.
I'll hold off letting the organisers know until after the weekend otherwise the room will end up with a Triumph or MG owner in it

Dal..I have always hung cloths covered robe containers behind the seats and atteched to the hoops either side...only a little seat space is lost..and it keeps my Jane happy, but I have no room for her ironing board Space is the only reason I'm looking for a Coupe, cheaper option than a new wife.
UKKen ish.

With us staying at Laon Im hoping we will do the whole drive on the Saturday and can have a lay in bed a bit longer too! Looking to it very much and just wondering if we should also do the MK Rally first to get some practice in! I understand the entry forms are now out for this as well. Ill get a pdf and paste it here. Last time we stayed at Prem Inn Willen Lake MK the night before
The 2013 MK Classic Car Tour on Sunday 21 April, great value at £70, will again visit the popular Millbrook Alpine Circuit and finish at the Porsche Driving Experience at Silverstone. Over 200 cars are expected so we suggest contacting either Alison or Michael at mkclassictours@aol.com asap

The Saturday event starts in Laon when drivers sign on and collect their Rally Plate, route book and map book, and start in number order. Due to large number of cars there may be different scenic drive routes, but last year we stuck together irregardless to avoid being split up. There is a lunch stop en route and the villagers come out in force to welcome us and wave as we pass through tooting our horns and waving back! The route is quite long and takes through some nice parts of rural France well away from the tourist routes.
The Sunday procession again Starts In Laon and follows a closed street circuit. Some congestion is to be expected at first but soon goes as the vintage cars leave the circuit allowing some fun as we drive around and through the town. The rules say No Racing - No Speeding and care is needed due to close proximity of many thousands of spectators, so a sensible approach is needed especially on the corners and narrow streets!
Rather than follow the motorway back to Calais on Monday we expect to again take a leisurely scenic route stopping off for coffee and a bite along the way to catch a teatime boat. Please add any questions in this thread and those that went last time can respond. This a great weekend not to be missed, and I can inderstand why so many British cars do this event year on year.
