For me I would give it a miss...but that said, it may be genuine or a scam? No harm in answering, just be very carful. The trader is very unlikely to pay your asking price.

Its like this Ken, if they want it they come fetch it. No meeting half way.
I have replied back to his email explaining.

Beware of all the typical scam tricks here, don't get into any of these 'i'll send you x amount more than your asking price and you send me the change' scams, and don't give your bank details out or accept any sort of dealings involving Western Union.

Personally i'd only deal with him if he's prepared to turn up at your door with cash in his hand (and i'd buy one of those marker pens to check the notes with too)

Only way to play it Russ. I sold my motorbike to someone in Poland, was very sus at first but played it cagey at first but turned out genuine and was a good clean sale :-) so you never know!!

But on the other hand, there is/was a left hand drive up fore sale, would think that would be better suited to France.

That's just what I've told him so its up to him now.

I did sell my Supra to a guy from Sweden, was a bit cautious at first but he turned up with ££notes so was all well

All seems legit. He wants to come for it next Thursday.
He also wants to reserve it but by the time he has sent a cash deposit he will be here for it.
Would you cancel all adverts on the strength that he will turn up without asking for a deposit??
Don't know what to do for the best.

dont cancel your adverts, just explain that you have someone viewing on thursday and take a contact number and name and then you can call them if it doesn't happen. Only safe way for them to pay is direct into your bank account, all they need is a sort code and account number. As a warning paypal is not a safe way to recieve money, many scams now use paypal as people think its safe.

hopefully all will be good.

I'd be a bit wary of giving out bank details, I would do as above, tell any other callers you've got someone on it, but take contact details and tell them you'll ring them back asap if the deal doesn't happen.

If they want to pay cash take them to your bank and get them to pay it over the counter directly into your account that way the onus is on the bank cashier to check whether the notes are kosher.

A reverse look up suggests that he is based in Avignon but is either unlisted (withheld) company number or something else suggest either ring to talk to or be as you are very wary

this - I sold my old Lightning (wow THAT was a mistake!!) to a fellow from Germany and he paid cash over the counter into the local barclays branch great sale with no issues at all. BUT NO CASH = NO SALE. If he arrives too late for the bank offer to put him up at the local travellodge at your expense (it'll only be £50ish) so you can do the bank thing 1st thing

Thanks for the quick reply, its hard to filter the good ones from all the scammers you get from listing on the trader! I've had almost 10 people email who all happen to be offshore and buying for a special friend
I'll update and let you know how it get on with Thomas, its all gone a little quiet at the moment
