Radio & CD player or alternative?
When I bought my Crossfire, just 18 months ago, I discovered that the radio shown on the advertised photos was no longer there. It had been replaced by a rather nasty, ill-matched, black thing that hangs out awkwardly from the console.
I would like to find a replacement that fits with the facia, a matching silver colour. Has anyone got a recommendation for me?
Appearances do matter when you’re driving in the best looking car interior you’ve ever had. 😉
Thanks!

The display can be turned to a nice more or less matching green.

Just fitted a Kenwood myself. Had to get the black version as the price premium on the silver was astronomical. The good thing is the UK version comes with a harness that plugs directly into the existing Crossfire harness so there is no "fiddling around" with the wiring.
Also be aware that the various install sheets/ method sheets and PDF's you can get from other forum members are now not applicable to the UK variant(s) of the Kenwood units. As I have said in past postings, the methods used were brilliant and a great help at the time, but Kenwood UK now do all the work for us. I am politely saying with no disrespect to any other forum member(s)....ignore everything and just follow Kenwood's Instructions. I can clarify further if you wish by sending you the Kenwood install instruction sheets.
Cheers

I'm hoping you may be able to clear something up for me - I'm looking at the Kenwood marine unit (model is KMR-M508DAB if that helps) but wanted to check on the connections side of things, I've enquired with the retailer who have said it won't fit if the car has the factory fitted amplifier, they say the sound won't work if that's the case. I don't yet have the car to check if it has the amp, but that reply seems at odds with the info on this post so I'm probably more confused now!
Any further help is appreciated, thanks.
Hi there
I assume you are getting a UK version Crossfire, not an import? In the UK we only appeared to have the hard top and the soft top. Other markets i.e. USA had 2/3 versions of the hard top. There has always been a big debate as to which version we all have. This is where the confusion can come from.
I fitted the KMM-BT506DAB in black as there were no silver marines to be found anywhere at sensible prices. My radio came with the interface kit in the box.
I will have to dig out the info, but its about somewhere.
I note you are in Lancashire, may I ask where.
Hope this helps for now
Just checked with Kenwood Support - The radio you have selected should have the interface loom in the box.

Hi, and thanks for the quick response!
Yes it's a UK model soft top/cabriolet/roadster, the standard model not the SRT6 version. I've found the silver marine version via eBay, a company called Dynamic Sounds. There doesn't seem to be much by way of choice of silver coloured head units but this model looks pretty good.
I am indeed in Lancashire so maybe not so far from yourself in Manchester - I'm just on the Lancs/Yorkshire border part way between Burnley and Skipton. Quite new to these forums but hoping to get involved with meetings/drives etc as time progresses, so any suggestions etc will be gratefully received!
Really appreciate your help with this, thanks.

I would do the following to be on the safe side:-
1. Change the serpentine belt - get a second pair of hands to help out, it will only take you two minutes once you have fathomed out how to release the tension on the belt.
2. Resolder the RCM - I work in electronics so it was dead easy for me to do. The RCM problem is a right pain in the backside.
There are other things to do and they are dead simple when the weather warms up.
If you require any info just give me a shout.
Cheers
