Meet in Southern California?
Update.
Was wanting to get this all hammered out this last weekend but got caught up in other activities. So.....
Since no one has objected to meeting in San Diego, the plan is to meet here at say 10, socialize for an half hour to hour, run to Julian which should be an hour and a half (depending on how often we get stopped for speeding), eat lunch in Julian, then either head on back to San Diego or breakup and everybody heads home.
Right noiw I'm deciding on a San Diego meeting spot. The stadium would be ideal except I don't know if it will be opened Sat morning. And if it's not, there is no place to park outside. So I'm looking at a restaurant off either 5 or 15 that's easy to see and get to. Either that or a Walmart parking lot or something like that. The problem with San Diego is that the lights are so poorly timed that a caravan can easily get broken up so I'd like to avoid surface streets as much as possible.
Julian has all kinds of eating places along it's main street so maybe its best if we just decide while there, especially if some are packed with tourists.
I don't know how many will attend. SVO has been egging me on so he better show up. Eganders lives close by so he has no excuse not to attend. This coming weekend was selected to accomodate Mike-in-Orange so he should show, else I'll spite him by polishing my car with a brillo pad. Msheredy has expressed interest but since no one has ever seen him I don't think he really exists.
Lets say a half dozen cars which would be a good showing since most live in the LA area. Course if a dozen show that would be even better.
Sorry about the vague plans at this point. I'll get things firmed up by Wed-Thurs. Right now plan on San Diego at ten, Julian by 1. Specific details won't altered the basics to any great degree.
By the way, Julian is know for pies. So if you are a pie lover, and who isn't, plan on fulfilling your second most favorite fantasy.

Ok, i am planning on attending if i get my car back. I took it in for an air bag light and a week later, they tell me they had to replace the pass airbag. Ok, not a problem you say? Well they replaced the airbag and in stead of leaving me a message to come pick it up, they leave a message saying they ran into some problems and had to call the corp. tech. line. Now i cant even get a call back. Soo, long story short, ill be there if Chrysler can figure out how to fix their own car.
ps. Thanks for letting me vent.

Not to discourage you but.....my dealer had to call corporate for help in fixing my gas tank. My service advisor told me that an engineer was going to be sent out but that it could be up to two months before that happened. He finally did show up and helped with my car after a month.
It would be alright if you attended in another car. After all, this is just as much an owner meet as it is a Crossfire meet.

If Sunday doesn't work for everyone else I fully understand - I'm not expecting you all to adjust your schedules to accomodate me.

OK, do folks want to put this off till Sunday or go with Saturday. With Sunday Orange Mike can attend and give us all free Meguiar's samples, or maybe not. Regardless we can have fun manipulating Mike with guilt. Plus, we can all spend Saturday cleaning our cars.
I kind of like Sunday myself since it gives me one more day to arrange things. Procrastination - why do it today when it can be done tomorrow.
Your thoughts please, else we'll just continue with Saturday.

Here is the game plan:
Sunday works better for several of us and more importantly, our Sherpa guide will be available because otherwise he works Saturday.
Methinks that initially meeting at Montgomery Field in San Diego would be best. The airport is convenient to reach from 15 S. Those coming down 5 S just have to get on 805 S, to 8 W, to 15 N, then exit on Aero Dr. The 805 - 8 - 15 is actually pretty quick and easy to do. Most importantly I will know where to go!
There is a restaurant at Montgomery that is easy to get to and we can meet in the parking lot. We can also get something to drink or snack on too before heading to Julian. The restaurant is called Casa Machada and if you suspect Mexican food, you'd be right.
Our Sherpa guide will lead us to Julian since he zips around out in the back country with a Corvette group and has a good route in mind. Also, with a Corvette himself, he can be goaded into leaving us far behind, and hopefully smoking out any law enforcement in the process. Also hopefully he won't read this post and discover this diabolical plot.
After that it's eats in Julian and whatever we want to do afterwards, though I'd expect most will head home after lunch.
So, Sunday at 10 AM in the parking lot of Casa Machada. I'll get a map and further directions up later.

Sounds good to me! I'm a new srt6 owner in Pasadena. I like driving my new toy so just about anywhere would be cool. I enjoy putting the top down on these warm summer evenings. Palm springs is ideal for that & they have casinos as an added bonus.
For Sunday at 10 AM. Yes, this Sunday!
Directions Directions Directions!
Hopefully the maps will post.
Arriving south on 15:
Exit on Aero Drive. Turn right and head west. Aero Drive will head slightly uphill and then level off. No speeding since there is a police station on the corner of Aero Drive and Ruffin Road (Aero levels out at this point). Continue to head west another three quarters mile or so. There should be open land on your right and then there will be hangars and aircraft to your right. At the next intersection turn right (head north). You will be turning onto John Montgomery Dr. John Montgomery Dr turns into Sandrock to the south of Aero so don't let the Sandrock signs fool you.
Head north on John Mont. The road turns sharply left but if you head straight you will enter the parking lot of Casa Machada. On the west end of the parking lot is a brown two story building. Casa Machada is upstairs and you can reach it by either going inside or using the stairs outside.
If you miss Aero Dr. then continue to Friars Road exit. Get off 15 and turn left onto Friars (head east). Immediately after crossing over 15 and at the next light get back on 15 north. Stay in the on ramp lane because it will turn into the exit for Aero. If you miss Aero then continue to 8 east or west and loop back around. If you miss 8 then you are truly doomed since you almost have to drive to Mexico before being able to turn around.
Arriving south on 5:
Take the 805 south lanes. There are 50 lanes for each highway so be prepared to move over a number of lanes. Head south to 8 and take the exit lanes east. There are two dedicated exit lanes for 8 east and there will be an additional lane that splits off to the right for 8 west. Stay in the right lane of the 8 east lanes since both lanes remain exit lanes once on 8 and the right lane is a dedicated on ramp lane for 15 north. Get on 15 north to Aero Drive and follow the above directions. Note that the on ramp to 15 north is a sharp curve so have a blast zipping around on it.
If you miss 805 then continue to 8 east and be prepared to go for miles before you hit 15 north. If you miss 8 then much like above be prepared to enter Mexico before being able to backtrack.
Sorry about taking so long to get the maps up but I could only get Google and Mapquest to post links to their maps and I wanted an actually map to draw on. Took some time to find one.

Here's a fun route that favors people north of Newport/Corona yet is cool for the SD croud.

-32- that looks like a good route. For the next LA area meet we can try it out.
Mr Max, I think a Palm Springs meet would be interesting. Maybe early next year.
Hope you both show up Sunday.
Note:
DO NOT screw around in the parking lot at Montgomery. The cops (remember the police station on the corner of Aero and Ruffin?) don't hang around the local donut shop. They do, however, quite frequently hang around the parking lot at Montgomery.
This photo was taken from the outside stairs at Casa Machada and this is what should be seen if one successfully makes it to the parking lot. The view is looking northeast.

-32-, that is a fun route. I live just a couple miles from Ortega Hwy and I love that drive, except when they're doing construction and the road is full of dump trucks. They should be done with all that nonsense now.
Brent, I'm programming the address of the restaurant into my factory NAV and I'll see you tomorrow morning.
