First one to post pictures. Probably because I'm the first one to get home.

The Reader's Digest version: As planned Mike-in-Orange, Eganders and his wife, XfireXtreme and his wife, and my friend Will met at Montgomery Field this morning. We drove out east on 8, then went north on 79 to Lake Cuyamaca where we had lunch. We then drove through Julian on the way back to Ramona where we broke up to head home.

We really couldn't wring our cars out due to traffic - in particular a silver Toyota Sienna. Well at least none of us had a collision with a Honda.

Onto the pictures.

The first four were actually taken Saturday when Will and I zipped out to Julian to check out the route. These pictures are not the greatest but in my defense they were taken from a car that needed a bath. Thought I'd show how extensive the 2003 fire was and how much was burned. On the bright side there is nothing like a curve sign to get a Crossfire driver excited.

The next two pictures were taken at Montgomery Field. Now Will has a black Corvette that he drove along with us. Can anyone spot it? It's actually hidden behind the white tuna boat Escalade in the background. The parking lot was wide open and yet the Escalade driver had to park right next to Will's Corvette. The herding instinct must be strong with that one.

The last four were taken at the restaurant at Lake Cuyamaca. This is the fourth Crossfire meet of sorts that I've been to and SRT-6s were always present in disportionate numbers. It also seems that Aero Blue is the color of choice in So Cal.

I sure had fun and a Borrego/Palm Springs meet is starting to be kicked around. Stay tuned.

I just got home from a great drive and lunch with a nice group of people. A big thanks to Brent for putting this together, including maps for everyone!! Beautiful weather and great roads always make for fun top down driving, even if some bonehead in a minivan can't tell they're holding up a bunch of sports cars on a twisty road.

Ah well, just another reason to do this all over again!

Thanks again Brent, great stuff all around.

Thanks everyone. Great time. Great drive. Special thanks to Brent for setting it all up, and to Will too for coming along and helping Brent with the course map.

Will actually deserves the accolades. He's the one that mapped out possible routes and it was his gas we guzzled on Sat checking them out.

I was surprised and pleased at how well Will's Corvette drove. The suspension was not stiff at all and though the steering was heavier, it was a very easy car to drive one handed. I don't think his Corvette was inherently better than a SRT-6, nor the opposite; they are just different and after adapting to the differences they both provide equal enjoyment.

Will enjoyed the day and if we don't mind a Corvette tagging along, then he'd like to meet up with us again. I think his Corvette meets are a little structured and I believe he liked the easygoing nature of ours. Of course we'd have to decide if different cars are welcomed but I'm OK with it since I not only see these meets as a gathering of Crossfires but also one of Crossfire owners and admirers. But the majority needs to rule on this.

Will was a terrific addition and a great guy. It was really nice of you and him to chart the course for us. It's definitely not a problem.

I agree. The more people, the more fun.

I just purchased a Crossfire Roadster and live in the San Diego Area. I would like to join the next excursion, if possible. Should I keep an eye on this thread?

Just watch the West Forum for details of the next meeting. There should also be a general announcement in the Crossfire Meets forum.

We've had a couple in the LA/Irvine area and this was the first in San Diego. I'm guessing the next will be held again in the LA area. We had briefly talked about having a run from Julian or so to Borrego but obviously that will have to be done in the winter. Stay tuned.

Do you have a SRT-6 or NA Crossfire? And what color is it? Please let it not be red. Oh, and what part of Stoplight Diego are you in? I'm in San Carlos and may see another Crossfire once a month and have only seen one other SRT-6 here. By the way, mine is the Aero Blue coupe that looks just like the other Aero Blue coupe in the pictures. Curse you Eganders!

Just purchased a 2006 inferno red roadster with 7,000 miles. I live in San Diego so I guess I'll be driving with the top down. It is the most impracticle car I have ever owned. There is no trunk space, it only seats two people, it's too fast for my age, and people stare at the car when it is parked or when I drive by. It was probably the stupidest purchase I have ever made but boy, do I love this car!

The Roadster is not an SRT and I live in Lakeside but work near I15 and Aero. Iussually take 52 home but sometimes I8 to 67, depending on traffic.

Why not red?

Because I really really really would like to get a red roadster myself and seeing one, or even knowing about one, is murder! If I could afford another Crossfire and, more importantly, had a place to park another car; I'd be all over a red roadster.

You work only a few miles from me. I work at Montgomery Field at a maintenance shop across from the fire station on Kearny Villa.

Did you get your roadster from a dealer or private party? I bought mine from Rancho Chrysler and they have been reasonably competent in fixing problems. They have never given me any sort of runaround when I go in for warranty work.

LOL. Of course the real issue is that Chrysler didn't offer enough color options for the SRT-6. At least they could have offered the SRT-6 with unique colors from the other Crossfire versions. Yesterday I saw some dude leaving one of the downtown buildings driving an Aero Blue regular Crossfire.

Maybe someday when I'm old and wealthy like you I'll choose a different color and repaint!

BTW, when I was looking for my SRT-6, I found black, grey and sky blue versions. I think they all look good depending on the lighting, but if more color options had been available, I might well have preferred something different.

Old and wealthy? Ha! You're only half right.

We 6 owners like to battle over the best color, why I don't know since Aero Blue is king and is also the fastest. But if the 6 came in red I bet three quarters of us would have gone with the color.

I prefer black. It looks really good when its clean, its just a pain keeping it that way. I passed up buying a black SRT because the guy wanted $5000 more.

Hay, has any body thought about a run up Mt. Wilson? I did it once with the Cobra club and it was a great run.

Mt. Wilson? Now you're talking about my back yard. Unless of course there is a Mt. Wilson in San Diago. I can see Mt. Wilson from my house. Are we talkin' L.A. here? I have a black SRT6 roadster. It is a pain, mostly dust, but nothing looks better when its all shined up!

That is the Mt. Wilson i was thinking of. We could meet in the parking lot of the Rose Bowl, then head up the mountain.

I figure the last meet was in SD so we should have the next one on the other end of So Cal.

I can see the Rose Bowl from my roof (when I'm fiddling up there) I live off Linda Vista. I could probably coast down there and save some gas for those power sweepers on Angeles Crest Highway-count me in!

I know these canyons well, but have stayed away since last summer, three speeding tickets in 14 months...all on my motorcycle, never in my cars. The sweepers are so fast, but there is ALWAYS the MAN up there on weekends. I finally learned to wait for another pack of bikes or tuner cars to go up into the canyon, like maybe 5 minutes ahead of me, and it is ususlly then that one or more in that group is pulled over getting the ticket, and then I can just cruise, (speed) by. Do you guys just cruise in a pack at or under the speed limit? I think my last ticket was like doing 15 over the limit, I told the officer if I would have been going any slower I would tip over in the turn. Anyway I now ride, or take the Xfire up to Azusa canyon, over to Glendora ridge, if you go during the week, like after work, you see no one! Very nice, but kinda scary if you happen to crash or breakdown, because no one is there to help.
