Question for Everyone In Western States
Thanks for taking the lead on this Steve. This looks like a big trip, would we be talking about a week long trek ?

actually, I'd not thought it through to the point of knowing how long a trip it'd be ... of course, that varies depending on where one lives, but for us in NoCal, a lot depends on how long you'd take to drive to Vegas or back ... the course I'm looking at most favorably right now is almost 300 miles llong which I'd say should be broken in two ... otherwise, it becomes too much of a chore to get it done and the pleasure is lessened ...
so, if it's two down, two there and two back, yeah, it's the best part of a week long trip ...

Could you look at possibly planning the stages so that one stage is convenient for So Cal/AZ/NM folk and the other for Nor Cal/UT/WY? This way if a two day run is too much, especially if an owner needs to commute a distance, then at least some owners could participate on at least one stage and hopefully not have to drive so far to attend.
Congratulations, you are no longer a sheeple.

Living in the N.E., I've been able to attend all 3 of the largest Crossfire GTG's. Carlisle (basically a huge Mopar Car show) where everybody displays their cars, and mostly sit around (under a tent) and BS with other Crossfire owners. Not that there's anything wrong with that, because everybody always seem to have a great time since we all share a common love for the XF. But it doesn't include much actual "driving" unless you caravan to and from the event with other XF owners. Usually a 2 night affair.
Woodward Ave. which is simply unimaginable unless you've actually had the chance to experience it. Cruisin the Woody with a large # of Crossfires always attracts a lot of interest from the crowds, and it's amazing how you get to see practically every 4 wheel, 3 wheel and 2 wheel conveyance ever created. Again it's usually a 2 night gtg. but it actually gets started earlier in the week. Lots of time to hang with other XF owners.
The Dragon, probably the best, and the most fun GTG of all. Beautiful scenery, fantastic roads, great Lodge, lots of time in the evenings to party with fellow XF owners, again a two night gtg but you may enjoy staying longer. It's the best one to be at if you really want to put your car to the test. Nobody ever leaves the Dragon thinking the Crossfire isn't a "true" sports car.
If I lived out west, Arizona, Calif, Nevada, New Mexico, etc. In my opinion, Moparrbust's suggestion of attending Mopars at the strip, and a well planned cruise out to the Valley of Fire would be a fantastic GTG. Maybe even throwing in a more leisurely drive to Mt Charleston on the 2nd.day. Everybody staying at one central location should garner a group discount, and of course I'm sure everybody could find something to do as a group or by themselves in Sin City.
And of course, a simple cruise up the Pacific Coast Highway wouldn't be too shabby either.
The forum members in Florida have a real nice GTG at a Race track that seems to have adopted them (as a group) as an Opening Day feature in the Spring. They actually get some track time much to the delight of the crowds, and Forums member alike. Maybe this is another event that could be duplicated by some tracks out West.
What ever you guys do, it goes without saying the Crossfire makes it a blast just because it's so much fun to drive. But I've found that just getting the chance to meet all the really great XF forum members to be the real icing on the cake. Good Luck.

It is nice to see interest from West Coast owners. My wife and I would enjoy meeting other CF owners and getting involved in some cruises.
I'd like to see something on the West Coast also. Preferably either Northern CA or Upper Baja (AKA SoCal). However, I'm willing to travel to someplace that can support it for the members. The Napa Valley cruise will be a start when the weatherman settles down. Happy Holidays!!

There are at least half a dozen of us in the SF Bay area ... add dberry, GB and a some other SoCal guys along with anyone else who wanted to trek to NoCal, we could maybe have a dozen cars making a Napa run ... AND, as a little bonus, I know one of the winery owners in Napa who is a cigar smoker ... while everyone would enjoy his 'juice of the grape' products, GB, Cal_Cobra and I (maybe some of the others too) would certainly enjoy some face time with the owner over cigars ...
SO ... who's up for a Napa run ? ... and when ??
I've sent an email or a PM to as many Crossfire owners as I can identify who've either attended a NoCal GTG or have expressed interest in one ...
If I've missed anyone, please jump in here with your response ...
you might also want to email me so I can put you on the list and be sure you're kept up to date with any and all developments ...

Steve, put me on that list. After the holidays and when the weather clears would be great. I will be more than happy to assist in organizing this. I used to live in Napa and went to junior high and high school. I have not been back there since 1966.
For many years, I did road trips with the Miata club. We did the winery thing too. It was wonderful. Evenone had tops down (cars, not people) on warm spring days ::sigh::

Same here. I love to go back to the Valley and have a weekender up in Lake County.

I am in touch with a lady named Karen Barnes. She graduated with us in '64. Her name was Karen Busch. She went with George Gibson in those days. Ring a bell?. Wow, small world.

I'm open about any weekend (except new years weekend) that it doesn't rain
SteveS, Sandgrounder is correct. I jump between both sites. The west coast contingency (crossfirecommunity.net)tries to have 3-4 GTG's a year. We consistantly have 10-18 Xfire's each hook-up. There is a hook-up planned for May 15-17 to Whitesands NM. I usually will post here when more details are available. The majority of the Phoenix area hook-ups are listed in this site. If you go to page two, there are two or three from last year. Our hook-ups are usually a weekend ordeal. Many people that come from out of state will stay longer to see other sites in this beautiful state. For example, if I drive to wine country, I'm going to make a week out of it.. Never been there.. My point, we have the interest and numbers. Please put me on list.. I try to incorporate both forums. Look at my signature.

Ron and I have been on a number of hookups with a great group on the other site. Given my temp location through the late spring is San Diego, it would be great to have a SO. CA hookup!
