Default Painting Calipers (lots of pics)

This is what i used they also have a paint can but i like aerosol better.

(note: i don't have a good cam so i'm using my phone).

Clean the area, I used an brass brush cuz i did not want to get it wet.

Next used masking tape the green one won't leave any glue behind when you peel it back.

Make sure you cover the brake pads on the bottom also.

The top takes just a lil bit more of time but make sure you get it.

Don't be afraid to use more tape to cover the area this type of spray has to be more than 12" to cover even and not start dripping.

One section at a time dont just spay down there look at what you are spraying.

This is where it most of the work went to and well worth it cuz there are many components you dont want to over spray.

Then wait 10-20 minutes, unless you are like me and can't wait then its 3-5 minutes.

Make sure you get all the tape out.

Also keep an eye out for something you might have missed.

If you get some over spray you can use a red scratch pad. Also i forgot to mention i took that retention wire out cuz it was in the way but beware its a bit of a pain to put in without scratching the caliper, just be careful.

Nice job! Looks good.

I was fortunate that the black on mine is in good shape. When it comes to recoating them, I'll probably have them powder coated... but that's me.

Cheers!

being the perfectionist that i am... i would have to remove the calipers before painting.

the removal process is quite easy and will aid in a professional looking end result.

i am shock how many people do this painting on the car ... painting the backing of the brake pads, retaining clips and all ...
(but you tape things off... much better than most).

I might even be a little more **** than Andrew on this one...I'd pull them off and go into the back of the garage, with the door closed.

I've seen too many people spray things and not even realize how far their paint can travel through the air. It's something you don't really notice until the light hits it just right!

But I will say your results look good!

I removed mine and used 1,200 Deg paint. Gave me a chance to replace the brake lines with SS and use Ate Racing Brake Fluid.

How would you go about taking out the calipers. I want to paint mine as well but am afraid of painting the calipers while its on. I rather paint them seperately. Can someone please help, i am totally lost. Thanks.

I used this kit on my a previous ride, Silverado SS and the calipers faded to pink...

Concur remove calipers and use the ceramic paint on kit, even better is to have them powder coated.
