Appreciate your thoughts regarding new rubber.
It's about time to replace the OEM rubber with a new set of tires. I've done a search using to tools, but got a headache. Can you suggest a set appropriate for my driving habits, please?
Originals will have about 35K on them upon replacement, so obviously not a racer. Would prefer a softer ride as opposed to sidewall rigidity. Hot, Florida driving. Buy American.
Any other criteria I need to pass on?
Thanks for any suggestions.

Let me make it easy for you. Buy my OEM Conti's with less than 7k on them so I can get a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3's.

Dwight, you may not want Inferno's Conti's but he's got a heckuva good suggestion for tires!
You can't go wrong with Goodyear's. I drive the F1 A/S but then I live up here in winter-never-ends Sticksville. If I could afford running with A/S in the tough seasons & then use the GS D3's in summer I do so in a heartbeat.
Thanks.
I see that the GY F1's are a rotation-specific tire. Is that a big deal to me? Other than water management, what does this rotation thing do? What does it do to first-cost or unanticipated replacement out in No-Wheres-Ville?
Eight o'clock Friday night: "I'm sorry, sir, I've only got a port-side 19 in stock".

Dwight,
I chose Falken FK-452's for the reasons you spec'ed. It is a directional tire, but that doesn't bother me. Sears is a Falken distributer and if one is close, they can have it in no more than 48 hours.
It is NOT my daily driver, but I really like 2 things:
Handling is just great
The ride is almost sedan-like. These were designed for sport luxury sedans and coupes.
2 cents worth.

try going to 275 35 19 rear and 235 40 18 front tires, in what ever brand. ride and comfort improves greatly and slighty larger tires fill out wheel wells.car looks better and no clearance problems.

I just bought my new skins. They ride soooo much better than my old Kumo tires. They will not offer as much dry grip as the PS2's I wanted but I could not bring myself to pay 70% more for them. I bought the General Exclaim UHP's. You talk about an aggressive look and stance........ I have 235/35/19's in front and 295/30/20's in rear. If you read the reviews on them, they are rated very well in all areas. They may not be the best for the strip but for all things combined, they are a very good choice.

So these must be bigger then stock size!
Have anyone else when with a bigger tire size and had success?
If so what was your setup?
ANd will it work on a lowered car?

I'm not sure the road hazard warranty would cover this.

Seriously, though, I started w/stock Conti's, and wasn't happy.
Then I got Nitto Invo's; not too pricy, and just what you are looking for on dry and wet roads. Good in low temps, but not on snow or ice. The tread pattern dampens road noise very well, and the flexible sidewalls really smoothed out the ride. Great grip dry, and they virtuallly ignore rain.
I recently got Sumitomo HTR-ZIII's; ; a little cheaper than the Nitto's, and, except for the stiffer sidewall for tight turns, not quite as good.
I'm still figuring out whether I like my F1 GS D3's...it was maybe a little cool for them at the Dragon...haven't played with the air pressure yet...but we did have them screamin' from time to time...I was hoping for better grip...but we will try her again this summer when I'm down in Marysville...sneek out to Dragon for at least one run...although she may see southern IN...before Marysville...these tire look agressive, and are very quiet, did well in the rain on the way to the spring Dragon...so, we shall see...they may get burned up on May 30th at US 41....LOL
