Default SLK Rotors

I have been searching and searching...

I can not find anywhere that someone actually talks about USING SLK320 rotors on the XF. I have found several places where someone will say "they are the same, sure they will work" and then I read about HDDPs efforts to use a brembo system for the SLK320 and it would not fit. Is this because of the other components or the rotors?

Basically I need to verify (before I order everything) that the front and rear rotors and pads from a SLK320 will work on the XF with zero issues.

Thank you.

the best i can help you is the slk32 front rotors are 330mm and the back rotors are 300 mm both are ventilated. this may be bigger than the slk320 rotors im not sure. mine are amg brake setup

Yes sir, Doc, doing some brake upgrades, new tires, new battery, and maybe a few other things

Ok, according to the company I ordered from, the XF fronts are different than the SLK fronts, but the rears are the same. He said they are VERY similar and only one digit off in part number. Once I get these rotors I will let everyone know how they work out. I was going to go the disc Italia route (I have TK disc italia pads waiting in a box) until Lantana pointed out that these rotors only come in one side (so one side would not cool nearly as efficiently) and the quality of them was on par with the inexpensive ebay rotors. Well I went ahead and got ebay rotors, D/S with a black coated center. They are good looking and once I get everything on (D/S rotors, TK pads, stainless lines, dot4 fluid, painted calipers with logos) I will post up some pics. I was lucky he had the same exact rotors both in stock for the XF and last gen SLK. He called within 24 hours of me making the purcahse of the 4 SLK rotors to confirm I had an XF (I had to fill in vehicle info to purchase) and he let me know the fronts were different parts and he was sending out the SLK rears and XF fronts, keeping my fingers crossed, but so far the customer service from this place has exceeded anything I have recieved lately.

As I say, once everything is put on and 'tested' at the dragon I will report back on how it is all working out.

What eBay vendor did you buy from? I bought drill/slotted rotors off of eBay and 1. the fronts were the wrong size, they were smaller in diameter then OEM.. but not by a lot, but enough to matter.. i'll see if I can dig up the pics..

2. the quality was absolutely ****-poor. they drilled/slotted in the veins, the zinc coating was terrible, etc etc. I would not do that again

forgot to mention.. i bought 2 front drilled/slotted and 2 rear drilled/slotted and they threw in "free" brake pads.. it was about 360$ with shipping.. I know I know cheap, and you get what you pay for.. i'd never go cheap again on brakes/tires ever again..

this is ONE of the brake pads they sent me.. they all looked similar..
bpad.jpg

notice how it is cracking, etc, they all were like that.. i wouldn't put that on ANY vehicle..

OEM rotor

aftermarket rotor, i know the measurement isn't the greatest but it is about 1/2 inch smaller in diamater

Hopefully this will not happen to me, this is why I am trying to do as much due diligence beforehand as I can.

I recently replaced my pads aand rotors with the drilled and slotted type. On the boxes the description said SLK320/Crysler Crossfire so surely they must be the same.
The rotors that are undersize - what are they specified / described as?

They were described as "Chrysler Crossfire" rotors..

They were from the company called 'iRotors'.. they offered to send me new ones @ their expense, but after seeing the quality / etc of these, I said no thanks and shipped them back. Lost about $60 due to shipping those monstrous things.

I looked at iRotors and one of the guys here in my office bought them to 'upgrade' his RX-8, needless to say, he was not hapy with the quality. The guy who I have been dealing with seems very knowledgeable and contacted me right after the sale wanting to make sure I had a XF and not a SLK.

Like I said... if the results are good - I will post his info.

If the results are bad - I will post his info

Will keep everyone posted - will be done before the Dragon.
