Get you some really long bolts and run them both at the same time..... You could have the first SLK dually dragster. LOL

Heavy chain and padlock your wheels to a light pole. Squirrel Crusher

Hey Steve.... You have an open invitation anytime you want to come down this way. Got an extra bed with your name on it. Sheets and pillows cost extra! The track opens back up the 31st of this month.

Hoosier DRs are DOT rated..........but not for highway use. I drive on mine to/from the track 20 miles each way with no issues though. It's just a matter of how much faster you will wear them out.

As far as the whole "what to do with my street rims" deal goes.............you can just put them inside your car with you. You will run slower times but you won't have to worry about someone stealing your rubber for the ride home.
i was looking at the hoosier site and they say the smallest rim for the 255/50-16 is 8". whats the risk with the 7" rims?
cant keep them in the car. doesnt make sense to have 74 lbs of race wheels and then add another 100 lbs in the trunk!
i may end up doing the trailer thing. not sure i want that either. damn i wish i had a track close!!

The tires are fine on a 7'' rim...............I already have them on a 7'' rim and so do many other people. I would however advise you to NOT go whipping around tight corners at high rates of speed.

HA! not much chance of that! these are my stright line wheels only. i have dunlop direzza sports for the twistys.
did you get the r6 or the a6 tires? i looked at the tirerack website but dont really see much difference in the tires. also do you recommend the heat cycle they advertise? definatly want my moneys worth as the tires cost a pretty penny!

Here's the part # from Hoosier that I have #17325.................as far as I know there's no options for tread compound. I think you're looking at autocross tires and not the DOT drag radials.

Moparburst, I know that you did a lot of research on this, and I appreciate your sharing with us. I purchased a set of the CLK rims like yours. I will be looking into tires for them this week. So, I basically have 2 options that I am considering. The Hoosiers, and the MT ET Street DRs. I have 27 miles each way to the track, so just a little more than you. The Hoosiers are 22 lbs., and the MT ETs are 29 lbs. The weight difference alone has me considering the Hoosiers. The street-ability has me leaning towards the MTs.

Other than the obvious weight savings, were there any other factors that made you decide to go with the Hoosiers over the MTs?

Thanks, Bob
