Just put on 4 General Exclaim UHP's today for $775 total at Discount tire. They called Tire Rack on the phone and matched prices but Discount included Tire Racks shipping in the price match. I've only got 10 miles on them but at least there is some tread on the back now. I won't worry so much now if it rains on the way to St. Louis this month.

 

That's good to know. I'm on the fence between getting those or the Hankook's.

 

I recently had the Hankook Ventus V12's installed.

They are good tires for the money but I would not call them great. The are quiet have decent grip, don't do anything wrong. That being said from my experience they really don't compare to the Advan's or the PS2's. Of course they are a good bit cheaper.

I need my forum buddys to come through again... So I have put these bad boys (285/35/19) on the back and still have my crap BFG KDW's on front. As far as ride goes, exceptional, and traction for me has been superb. HOWEVER if I take a turn at speed, say 85 90 in a wide banking turn my traction control starts to flash however I feel no slippage and the throtttle doesn't cut. Also it is extremely reproduceable and slightly disconcerting on a 1600 mile road trip. While I don't feel the traction go I still need to know what the hell is going on. Normally id just slow down, but let's be honest, we didn't get crossfires to putt around town. Any suggestions ideas or advice would be extremely helpful. I can't be the only one who pushes them this far

 

May sound dumb....but check your air pressure. Drop the pressure and get a little bit of grip.

 

I have always read that your should never mix tires per axle, it has always been suggested that it is best not to mix them front and rear.

While most people with "ordinary" tires might not see any issue by mixing the axles, I think driving our cars in a spirited manner would best be handled with the same brand/model. Adhesion and general handling can vary greatly from tire to tire.

 

I just had a set of Hankooks mounted and was wondering what kind of air pressure everyone was running. I just checked them and they only have around 38 psi.

I believe 35 all around is recommended. I run around 38-39. A little less sidewall flex during turns.

 

I keep all four at 35psi year round

 

Just got my full set of Falken FK-452 mounted. Went with 225/40-18 fronts and 275/35-19 rears. $750 out the door from a local Ma & Pop Store. Took me over 4 weeks to find the rears. I wanted the 285s but they're not available until July. Very sweet ride so far. In those 4 weeks, the Hankook Ventus S1 Evos on the rears went completely slick. But heck, I sure got my money's worth out of them.

In my search for other tires when the Falken rears weren't found, I ran across the new Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500s and thought I'd give them a go. But I guess they were so new that none of the local Firestone stores could find them in the sizes I wanted. Yet, Tire Rack has them. 225/40 $110, 285/35 $207. Was gonna jump on them the next day if my rears weren't found.

I guess I'll be sticking to the online stores the next go around. My last 2 sets were bought @ TireRack. I wanted to see if any of the local chains could match their prices, and many of them said they could beat them, but not one of them could find the tires sizes I was hunting for, mainly the Conti DWS and Falkens.

 

Thanks...Just wanted to make sure these tires didn't need to be kept at a different pressure. I'll get to try them out on Monday!

 

The rims just came in today (Mandrus Regenmeister) 18x8.5 on the front and 19x9.5 on the rear. Got the new tires mounted (Ventus V12). I put 235/40R18 on the front and 285/35R19 on the rear. I am adding a couple pics. Charging the camera battery so I can get the rest off of the camera.

 

I'm having trouble up loading pictures. This is the only other picture that made it.

 

I run 36psi on all 4 corners.

 

I have the same tires on my stock rims and they are great. My aftermarket rims have Falken 452 tires.

 

mine arrived today 225-40-18's and 295-30-19's. the rears dwarf the front tires, lol. getting them mounted on the new rims tomorrow
