Check your rotors
I was replacing my OEM pads with Rotex pads today and boy did I get a surprise. The car is a 2005 with a little over 20,000 miles. I had normal wear on the pads BUT I had to replace all 4 rotors. They were out of tolerance when I had them resurfaced. I guess this is why Mercedes does not resurface rotors when they do a break job. I was amazed at how worn they were at that mileage. Based on my experience I am suggesting you check the rotors for wear.

My OEM rotors now have 53000 miles and they were turned once at 22,000 miles when the Rotex golds were put on.
All seems to be good for now but I will probably plan to replace the rotors with the next set of pads.

My rears have been warped for as long as I can remember, audibly so at that.
Just waiting till I get cl500 front and rear brakes, then I can stop happy, lol.

Chrysler dealer turned my rotors at 30k when I had the Rotex Gold put on front and back. They said they looked fine, but that they always resurfaced rotors when installing new pads. Like Gary, I'll get new rotors when these pads wear out.
Brake wear is not an exact science, some people can make a set of brake pads last 2 sometimes 3 times as long than another person.
That's not critisizing anybody, it's just that we all have different braking techniques.

By monitoring your braking and accelerating to suit the conditions you save on brakes, gas, and tires. I'd say that was a win, win and win result.
But I'm an old git, so what do I know.
I should have added to my post that I am not the orginial owner of the car. I just purchased this roadster in the last three months. I think 180 is spot on when it comes to break wear. I have over 90,000 miles on my OEM pads and rotors when I replaced the pads on my Chevy van. I usually get 80,000 to 100,000 miles on brakes. Mostly highway miles. I guess I was surprised some one could do that to rotors in that short a mileage. Don't know if it was the driver or the quality of the rotors. I suspect the former had more of an impact then the materials. In any case the Xfire now has a good home and someone who takes care of it like it should be taken care of. Had the top down yesterday for a test drive. It is back in the garage since we expect 4 to 8 inches of white stuff tonight.

I always get short life out of pads,
mountain runs, late braking, etc.
I grew up road racing, what can I say.
Im hoping the stockers are near death because i need a good excuse to do a brake upgrade
