Default Power steering

Hey guys I've got some trouble, this morning my power steering went out and the battery charging light is on. Any ideas?

edit: I think the serpentine belt broke because I can hear the power steering motor just goin at it, haven't been able to check yet because I'm at work.

Sounds like you need a belt.

Or three.

And one for the engine accessories too.

lol, I figured out what happend. The jackasses that changed my oil put in too much power steering fluid and it overflowed out onto the serpentine belt and it slipped off. Luckily it was still hanging there so I get to put it back on when I get off of work.

If hydraulic fluid saturated the belt, I would make them replace it.

Can't be good for it.

I'd find out what type of fluid they put in. Our cars don't just have any old power steering fluid in it. And it shouldn't need to be topped off either.

What kind of fluid do our cars need? Yeah I'm not sure why the felt the need to top it off, I'm pretty upset about the whole thing now.

They should be using Pentosin CHF 11S its in a green can and this is the only fluid that should ever be used, other fluid may damage the system, you can check the color in your resevoir to make sure it's green if not, I would be taking it back and have them fix everything, and I yet have not heard any x-fires needing P/S fluid, and mine has stayed the same level since new, and if it did need more fluid then there SHOULD be a LEAK somewhere !

So figured it out this morning when it slipped off again and saw oil spewing out of the oil filter housing... I'm at the shop making sure they fix it.

Man they made it too easy for me, I thought I would have to slap em around a bit but they replaced the oil filter that was bad, replaced the serpentine belt and some rubber rings in the oil filter housing they thought might be bad. And not a DIME out of my pocket. But I think I'll still be doing my own oil changes from now on anyways lol. Thread closed!
