Default TPMS System

Has anyone had to replace their TPMS valve stems yet due to low battery? It is my understanding the batteries in these systems will last 5-7 years and many Xfires now fall within that time frame. Thanx

Not yet... I am sure that I read in the manual, the batteries are good for 10 years? I believe they are off until the wheels are turning.... I know you cant get a reading until they have been turning a couple of minutes... that is why the light dosent clear sitting in the driveway when you re-fill a low tire..

I am ready to replace the tires on my '05 - purchased "new" in 2007 with 61 miles. I have read about the 5-7-10 years battery life for the TPMS and wonder if I shouldn't get the TPMS replaced (they can't actually change the batteries can they?) along with the new tires.

Does anyone know for sure whether the sensors are off until motion occurs (in which case I only 3 years of battery life used up since I use seperate snow wheels in winter) or are the TPMS wheel sensors on all the time in which case I have 6-7+ years into their battery life.

Thanks
