Today I waited for the mailman and no wheels for me. A few minutes ago I received a shipping notice from the USPS. My name is misspelled, my address is wrong and the zip code too. When the wheels arrive, and if I recommend Forgestars, do not buy from Automotive Connoisseur Group in San Diego. They out and out lied to me too many times. They are liars. I don't understand at all. MB World has nothing but good things to say about them. On the payroll perhaps?

Yep it does. Well today guess what arrived! 3 boxes of Forgestars marked with the wrong offset on the boxes. One crushed and making wind chime sounds when shaken. Nice!!!! Got them open, measured the rims and the offsets are what I ordered. The bag with the centering rings and center caps had opened and they were dancing around inside the box but all the parts were still inside and undamaged. Whew! However I'm short a front rim and all the lug bolts. Here's hoping for a happy outcome tomorrow. I took a few quick pictures and I'll post them later today.

A few preliminary pictures. I took the 3 I got out of the box, installed the valve stems, washed and waxed them. The finish is not perfect just really good. It appears they need to clean them better before coating them. The machined surface looks fabulous. I tried weighing them but they don't really fit on my scale. But the fronts (18x9) are somewhere between 20 and 21 lbs. The rears had a shipping weight of 23 lbs. but to tell the truth they all seem to be lighter than that to me. Tomorrow I'll mount tires on the rims I have and hope the last box arrives with the lugs. I really, really want to get them on the car asap.

Looks like you can see some 'light at the end of the tunnel'. Wheels that have the spokes go all the way to the outer edge of the rim always give the appearnace of being bigger than stated size. And I like the machined look. Can't wait to see them on you XFire.

The 4th rim arrived today, whew!, but no lug bolts. It wasn't on the invoice so shipping didn't include them. An email to ACG and they're express mailing them out to me. I plan to mount the tires tomorrow but the pictures will have to wait. The timing all depends on when the lug bolts arrive. Not to mention I'm in preparations for the race on Sunday. I'm big time stressed out. I planned to be prepared way in advance and now I'm running just to participate. Let's focus on the positive. The rims look great, (in the box) they weigh close to nothing, the tires will be properly supported for the track (smallest tire recommended on the widest rim possible) ...... the competition, while a moving target, is in for a surprise.

I almost got the gunmetal. I think it would look hot but I decided to go with what I know works. The titanium matches the windshield surround and side strakes. I plan on taking pictures on Saturday....unless I'm still running around trying to get ready for Sunday. I may have done a no no .... I installed black SSR metal valve stems. (got them almost for free) If it really bothers me I'll swap them out with the next set of tires. (3 months)

If I'm excited to see these on the car, you must be DYING! What a process, it will be worth it. Your putting 18" on the back right?

Here's a picture of one of the rear wheels all balanced and ready to install. What's that you say, something missing? Would you believe me if I told you it was perfectly balanced and didn't need a weight anywhere? The other rear wheel only needed 1/2 oz on the inside and 1/2 oz on the outside. The tire guy was impressed. The front tires are being mounted in the next hour.

You can fit an 18 x 9 on the front! I took a short drive to the store after getting the wheels on and no rubbing so far. Tomorrow I'll do some spirited driving and stopping to see if I can induce interference. I'll finish the instal tomorrow, clean the car and get some good pictures. Here's a teaser pic. What do you think?

Les

Edited to add another picture

les keep a close eye on the upper suspension bolt that gets close to the tire. hate to see it dig into the rubber on hard cornering. also did you get a weight? try a board on the scale then subtract from the total weight

Thanks 32. I'll do that. The lower profile tire gave me more room around the bolt, which was a pleasant surprise. I had feared it would need aggressive grinding. Expect a report in the afternoon.

I had trouble with the scale so I picked them up and weighed myself then subtracted my weight. The wheel/tire combo are 3 lbs. less on each corner in the rear. (the Kumho's are heavier than the Yoko's) I plan to take the fronts off for inspection today and will weight them for posterity.
