Default Koni problem!

I went to install my new Koni's today. They don't come with the bump stops and top rubber mounts. They expect you to use the parts from the stock shocks. Great! What is you don't have stock shocks and the parts required cannot be removed from the KYB's?

Uh oh! Yep, you need the bump stops and the hats. The hats have to be drilled out to fit the larger Koni rod. Somebody must have some you can have. Anybody?

Will do. Kind of stinks that one of the most expenseive shocks you can put on a Crossfire doesn't come with the parts to install them.

Just talked to Koni North America. They don't make dust covers for this shock and they would have to order bump stops. 32Krazy, I sent you a PM about your bump stops. I need them.

Thanks 32Krazy for sending me the bump stops! Anyone got some spare dust cover? the Koni tech guy told me they are not needed but I think they would be nice to have. MB dealer will sell them to me but they come with a new set of shocks.

Thanks Steve, if you dont mind me asking what was the sale price? I'm thinking of getting a set of the adjustable shocks from Rob he's got them for $599 at the moment.

Do you guys feel that they make abit of a difference in handeling?

I was out of the country all week and thanks to jet lag I am going to get an early start on putting the Koni's on. It was great to get home and find the bump stops waiting for me. Thank you again Steve/32Krazy! Latter today I will post my impressions.

les i think the cost was 550 plus shipping but dont quote me.
as for the shocks i noticed a huge difference over oem. now let me clarify. the oems had 40,000 miles on them and the konis brand new. after playing with them i found a full turn was very stiff. for racing i used 1.5 turns in the front and zero in the rear to allow weight transfer to the back but doesnt allow return. for driving around town i use 1/2 turn and found it quite comfortable.

the only downside i found was the adjustments. theres no "click" per say so getting both sides the same is a guessing game. also for the crossfire guys the rears will need the interior carpet to be cut (maybe with an x) to allow to adj. wheel to be inserted
