I think 45 fits, anything higher rubs the caliper, the 6 comes with 35 front 20 rear,

i know the xfire has different size wheels than the slk and im wanting 18" and i have had them before with a 35 offset front and rear. 35 is fine for the front hoping i can do a 40 or so for the rear looking at a 18 x 9.5 or 10 rear but dont want anything sticking out of the fenderwell

I know on the XF you can easily go 10mm without sticking out of the fender well. I would be willing to bet a good bit of money that going from 35 to 40 offset on the SLK will be just fine.

thanks zahanma,, 22 even has a better ring to it.
32krazy the 42 will work ,on the rear with a 2" lip ,not sure about the front. take it to a tire/rim shop and let them try a 42 et rim on the front,, then u will know for sure. jim

I have 10mm on factory wheels on the front and they DO NOT come to the fender.... 45 offset should be good.... with 12mm on the rear I could go a little further out to get the tires to the fender....5mm, maybe 10??

I had 235/40/18's on the front of my lowered car and it rubbed a little bit in several places but it didn't hurt anything. So you have 5 mm on the inside with the stock rim and offset. Then I put a 10 mm spacer with a 235/40/18 and they fit but polished the fender liner bolts a bit, but nothing serious. So there is a maximum of 5 mm on the inside and 15 mm on the outside with the stock offset. So a 45 will work with the stock tire size with no rubbing on a Crossfire. As you know, I'm on 245/35/18's on 18x9 rims with a 30mm offset and NO RUBBING ANYWHERE! With this info you should be able to figure out what fits on the Crossfire, I don't have a clue about a SLK.

thanx guys. i know the xfire has tons more room in the rear due to not having a roof that folds into the trunk. i would love to run a 275 in the rear with the factory 225/40 up front in 18's . just trying to get ideas as to were the limits are. im thinking a 8" wide in the front with the 35 offset and a 9.5 wide in the rear with a 40 offset should fit the bill without rubbing
