E Z sensor TPMS and Crossfire
Last week I had the new rear tires mounted at Americas Tires and had them install EZsensors TPMS. They told me they could just read them and program them to the car with no problem....
As it turns out, there is a problem.... the sensors they installed couldnt be read (but the factory ones in front did).. They said they had another EZsensor that would work on the car but they couldnt program the car for them... I reminded them that that was what we discussed before I had them install them...
So I took the factory rears and the new ones back in to have them remove the EZsensors (and refund me) and move the factory sensors to the new wheels and put non-TPMS valves in the old wheels. Picked them up yesterday and put them back on the car. I went for a drive to the beach this morning(TONS of fun going over the mountains!) and the light did not go off.... I got home and figured I better check that the tire pressure is the same in them all.... fronts are 34psi, back is 32psi....close enough... then I see the stems... RUBBER.... WTH!! The knuckle head that did the tires took the EZsensors out and put non-TPMS valves in the NEW wheels and didnt touch the old wheels!
One other note of interest.... with my Eibach Pro springs and Koni shocks set a full SOFT... I was getting a little rubbing on the rears on the front edge of the fenders just below where they go from rolled up edge to the 90* flat... but only when I hit those little sudden depressions/sunken spot.... doing 80ish...
I have re-adjusted the back to 1 1/2 turns FIRM to see if that stops the rubbing...
The car handles wonderfully and the EC tune is great!.... I have to watch how fast I put the throttle down at ANY speed as it will just rocket away.....

I have studied the TPMS sensors and the more I look at the numbers the more I am confused.
According to what I have read earlier and lately, EZsensor #33000 should fit the SRT6 and '05 na's which can use Schrader #20066. It appears it does not fit other years of the Crossfire as they use Schrader #20028 which is not replaceable with the 33000 EZsensor.
Some people swear SRT6's and all years of na's use the same TPMS sensor, but evidence suggests that is not true.
I am almost totally confused on this matter, I hesitate to use the Chrysler part numbers as that confuses the issue more. They have different numbers for the SRT6 including '05's and the other years. Throw in revised part numbers and you have a whole new can of worms.
Coming to appreciate my Special Edition more ever day......no TPMS....no driving lights vs: road rocks....no heated seats to malfunction......no leather seats to burn my butt.....no power seats to quit working.......BUT.... Blaze Red with a 6 spd....and SRT6 wheels....

I think I would prefer the red to my black, but what the heck it matches my disposition.
180, the EZsensors may come with rubber stem (the ones they installed first were metal).... but the OEM Crossfire didnt and they were supposed to move the stock sensors from my stock wheels to the new wheels......
TPMS is just like my recent PMS....without the T...if you add the T...then it would be Total Post Mechanical Stress......I choose to ignore the light and trust my air gauge before play...besides, I always seem to have to let air out of the rears...to play...for some reason...

Others had tried to fit this sensor in an '05 na and it did not work.
The Schrader catalog does list two sensors for 05's, the one to be used depends on the OEM part number.

Just to be clear... I am not saying that the EZ sensors dont work in our car..... just that the local tire shop can't seem to program them to the car.... which means you have to go to the dealer and pay them to program them..... since I have working OEM sensors I was just trying to find a solution that didnt require the dealer programing....

The EZ-sensor can be programed by the tire dealer using the EZ-sensor programing tool. If they sell the sensor they should have the proper tools to complete the job, as the old programing tools are modified using new software.
The EZ-sensor can only be used to replace OEM sensor #56053030AB and AC, which can also be replaced with Schrader sensor #20066. Most Crossfires use Schrader #20028 as replacements. There is no EZ-sensor to replace this as yet that I have found.
Various OEM part numbers for the Crossfire are mentioned and this causes confusion. I cannot be sure of the OEM part numbers I use as different sites come up with different numbers.
Anybody tried this?

If you watch the video you will find this is useless for us as you will still have to make a trip to the dealer to have the computer set to the new tpms sensor ID.. $110 bucks and you just save the dealer 2 minutes time.
Or did you since they will still have to read them for the ID ?

Don't they just use a large round magnet to do that?.. probably even cheaper..
