I feel very fortunate to have had no issues or concerns with my Posi Quiet pads.
Have had them on since last May and they work great !!

I also reseated the emergency brake by going backwards a few times and pumping the brakes.
That doesn't work on the Crossfire style of brakes. The emergency brake is not part of the regular brake system and must be adjusted manually. If you didn't remove the rear rotors, you were never close to the parking brake system.

Also the rear pads can be changed very easily without removing the calipers.

Glad everything worked out for you. James

One of the best investments I made was this hard copy service manual set!
I am not sure the E brake could be said to be self adjusting even on the cars you are refering to, the rear shoes on a drum style brake did adjust automatically in reverse as long as the adjusting screw had not rusted up. But the cable assembly still required adjusting to take up the slack due to stretch when used often, so in essence it was not self adjusting, American car or not. Most people driving autos never used the E brake anyway and the cables often rusted up as a result.

As far as the hard copy service manual being a good investment depends on your outlook I guess. I have it as well as a CD version, but I always look on the computer and print out the sheets relevant to the job in hand from the copy I down loaded from this site. Why have the big manuals in the garage when a couple of disposable sheets of paper do the job?

I used my iPad. Can't get any better than that, especially since you can book mark pages to flip back and forth too. Easy to clean if you get muck on em too.

I didn't remove my rear calipers either so James is definitely spot on regarding this.

I have been using ceramic brakes since they became available on the market. To date, I don't recall any rotors wearing out any quicker than normal. I guess it could depend on how aggressive material the manufacturer uses in production.

Pad and rotor wear are highly dependent on personal driving habits, racing up to stops signs and slamming on the brakes will certainly accelerate wear. Save gas and brakes by driving conservatively in stop and go traffic.

Gentlemen - I just installed a set of Centric "Premium" ceramic pads and Goodrich Stainless braided brake lines, per Rob at Needswings, and they are great. Good stopping power and distance, no noise, and a GREAT FIRM pedal feel. Couldn't be happier! Give Rob a call.
