Default Need help! Ignition cylinder problem

My car key could not turn and I could not start my XFire. I know that this has been issue for 2004 model but really do not know much in details.

The Chrysler service center said it's an ignition cylinder failure. They were trying to replace that, costing me ~$1500. They have just called me that they probably need to replace the steering column. This sounds weird that and I feel like I might have to post something on this forum to ask among XFire owners.

Please help shed me some lights. Thank you very much guys.

Go get your car, there is a do-it-yourself file with pictures to help you all the way. Many who hardly know what end of a screwdriver to use have fixed their own key assembly for just a little time and effort. Please, if you love your XF and your money, get your car and do it yourself. There is also many here who would help you along the way.

I had this same issue and tried everything. I unfortunately couldn't fix it and had to pay the $1500.

Sorry to hear that.

I always tell people who can't fix it themselves to print the instructions out we have here and go see someone they know who is a "shade tree" mechanic OR even a local, good garage. Anyone who works on cars can do the fix in about 1-2 hours. At current shop rates, the worst case price would probably be $250 for the labor - and there are no parts needed.
