Default sqeaking rear when parked??

Hello all, this is a weird one I reckon? When I am driving my xfire the car has no squeaks, when I park up, get outta the car and bounce the rear right (uk drivers side) I get a v loud squeaking?! Any ideas? The car is standard, 47k on clock.

Oil?.....Grease?................ LOL>.... Ok, I will be nice. Something rubbing... might check where the shocks meet the car, shock towers as they are called. We have had some crack. Look to see no shocks are leaking fluid. Make sure everything is tight, no lose bolts/nuts. A good start anyway... If you can put her on a lift, to get under there, that would be the easiest. Good luck...

It is one of the bushes on the lower arm. Common error on mercedes.

If it was shock tower or bush, why is there zero squeak when I drive over say a groove in the road, a speed bump etc? That's what is confusing me.. Aside from this am I right in thinking all R170 suspension parts will fit if needs be?

Well, if you are driving, you aren't standing behind it to hear the noise are you? Good luck...

Mine does it too. Probably just the mini brake shoes squeaking on their mini backing plate.

Oledoc2u, when I drive slowly with window open and go over speed bumps then zero squeak.. That's how I know, when parked and I bump the car I hear a very loud squeak.

If it is the parking brake, how do I fix this?

Well, with both autos I never use a parking brake much. I would still get under there and have someone else move the car to find it. Could be a lot of things, exhaust hangers, something coming loose. You moving it isn't the same as driving and hitting bump and such. Your movement is slow compared to the sharp bumps while driving. Good luck with your search. Squeaks are annoying... I know..

I almost guarantee it's the parking brake. Mine does this on the drivers side as well, and only with the parking brake on. It's worse the harder the brake is pulled. Definitely check that before doing anything else.

Mine started doing this last winter. Initially, it did it while I was driving, sounded like something in the suspension. Once it thawed, it stopped doing it, then some time later, I noticed it does it when I'm parked, mostly if the car is rocked sideways. I still have the impression it's a suspension noise. However, being a stick, I do always park with the parking brake on, so I'm going to check that out.

OK. No squeek with the parking brake off, so ... how do I get rid of it? Does some part need to be replaced, or is it just a matter of lubing something?
