Default first problem

I have less than 50,000 miles on my 204.. last night I heard a squealing, got home checked the drivers side front. the bearings came apart.. I replaced the bearings and I can drivw the car for a few miles before I get tire wobble.. I readjusted the nut with the allen screw, but it only comes back after only a couple of miles.. when I tighten the lock nut do I need to tighten the hub in as far as it will go before locking down??

What does the service manual say? I know I have never read THAT part of the 3 or 4 thousand pages....

You can download it here: https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...ollection.html

(With the game(s) on tv, and the WONDERFUL weather in a lot of the country, you are not likely to get an answer too quickly this weekend.)

This is the specs from the manual for the bearing.
Adjust the wheel bearing end play by turning the hub nut (4) in stages while pushing and pulling the rotor firmly
back and forth. Adjust end play to 0.01–0.02mm.
8. Tighten the hub nut bolt to 11 N·m (8 ft. lbs.) and recheck the wheel bearing end play.

Never tighten it down "as far as it will go" always do it by the specs ........the reason for the slight play in the bearing is because when the friction heats the bearing up it expands to take up the few thou of a mm of clearance in normal operation. If no "play" exists then the bearing will bind on the race and wear out prematurely. I assume you also replaced the race with the new bearing because the wear pattern is from the old bearing and will cause the new 1 to wear out quickly if not given a new race to run on. I cannot understand the wheel wobbling after you replaced the bearing.....go back in and make sure everything ios done according to the manual that was given for download by pizzaguy. I would not move the car until you get the reason for the wobble fixed.

hopefully you didn't ruin the threads....when it came apart...check the spindle to be sure you are getting far enough onto the spindle to tighten the wheel to correct torque.
