Stoptech BBK question
I'm redoing the brakes and althogh the searches about the BBKits were good I still have questions. I want to buy monday but everyone who has these got the 355x32 in size and they cost more, $2300-2700. However, I found the 332x32 that start at $1750. 1st question, Is the difference noticeble? I always do drag races and accasional track days. I hope to get my race license this summer and try to compete a little. 2nd question, I have Stern ST1 weels, will both of these kit fit? I have the cut out from the site to measure it, but does any one know? (refer to my site for wheel PIC). Last question, How good are the brake pads tha come with the kit?

The only reason for a larger rotor is to have a bigger heat sink. The 355/32 BBK Calipers almost clear the stock SRT rims so compare the Sterns with the stockers. I was using a 5mm spacer but Jane filed the corners of the caliper and ran the stock SRT wheels with the Stoptech's. You "should" clear the 332mm combo. As far as pads it depends on how hot they get and your braking technique. Start with what comes with the BBK. If you overheat the pads you will know. The pedal will fill a softish and the car won't stop as fast as it was. You won't loose your brakes but when the pads get past they're heat tolerance limit they will wear out quickly, ie melt. The light on the dash from the sensor in the pads lit up and I came in the pits to discover my almost new pads were gone. So you have a built in warning system already.

Yeah thanks. I'm thinking 332 is the right value for me and its a little bigger than the 330 SRT6 brakes. Didn't HDDP race with SRT6 brakes?
You guys are not gonna believe the deal I got on the 332 kit $1690.44 out the door! It was not the listed price as I'm a good shooper I talked them down. The 355 kit was $2700 so this is a great upgrade for a NA car. (from Thmotorsports.com special order)
I do nee help please? I been calling around since I only need the rear SS lines, Poterfield said they will make some for me but do you know the lenght? Is it the same as SRT? If you bought NA lines, what did you get? Thanks.

I called Goodridge and the crossfire is not on their catalog for SS lines. So once again Its under mercedes, I tried the SLK 320 and no luck. I just want to confirm that the SRT and NA are the same lines. Any body? I din't want to buy 4 lines, just the rear 2. Buy its not working out.

Thanks! I'm going to send my rubber lines to Poterfield so they can catalog the car already. The car is almost 10 years old and manufactures have not figure out how the lines fit both cars as well as some Benz.

I got on the 332 kit in the mail last week. It was a special order, but it was worth the wait. They look great, all 4 rotors were stop tech and the black paint is going to mach the stern wheels perfectly. I was going to pick up the car today but I had to overnight longer bolts and 5mm spacers.
Your saying the wheels wouldn't clear the calipers even on the slightly smaller rotors? A shame. I use 5mm spacers on the front with my street rims. No problems at all, well, the tire shop managed to strip a couple of the lug bolts. Thankfully, the threads in the hub cleaned up good enough to get the race rims torqued to spec. Don't let the shop over torque! I warned my shop and they did it anyway. Power tools operated by tools.

Went to Pikes Peak International Raceway, the brakes were great! I came out of the oval at 100 mph down to 40 easy enough over and over. There were 9 turns on this two day event. I'm running stoptech pads in the front and poterfield in the rear. No noises, feel oem, the temperatures were 40-60 no heat whatsoever. I could go for more bite still I didn't notice fade or the need to warm up the brakes. My next issues are sliding on the seat and street tires. I will at a minimun go with a summer tires with more grip. I used Nitto NEOGEN since I got negative camber in the fronts. (I have used Michelin Pilots, Nitto Invo).
