Default S600 / CL600 rear calipers work?

Been on the hunt for rear 4 pots to go with the fronts and found a good deal on S600 / CL600 (03-06) I assume these are the same as others are using but couldn't find a thread where they were mentioned specifically (other than the fronts)

Has anybody used these/know if they will work with the standard just add washers method?

Thanks for the help as always!

you will need to machine a collar for the caliper mounts. 12mm od x 10mm id x 19mm long

Awesome! Thanks for the measurements. Can't wait to clean both sets up and put everything together.

double check the length with the thickness of your caliper mount holes. it might vary a mm or 2

They work indeed. You will need washers to mount the calipers further inboard by about 3mm. The 330mm rotor is 61mm in height as opposed to the 278mm rotor being 55mm. You will need four 12x1.5 bolts 35mm in length. I used 3/8" synflex tubing for bushings

Edit: correction the bolt size is 10x1.5 x 35mm long
the rear calipers dont need to be shimmed(the front Brembo calipers do)

Thanks turbo, are you saying you did not need a collar for yours? I know there are a few different types of s600 calipers, just want to be sure before getting everything purchased. Thanks!

I'm saying I improvised with a different material for bushings. Synflex is used as airline mostly on tractor/trailers. It's plastic/teflon and probably not as durable as a steel bushing.

I later plan on drilling and tapping the caliper mounting bosses to a 12mm bolt size to ensure a sturdyer mount since the use of washers reduces the flanging area by quite a bit

The rotors I used are Raybestos #980555 from RockAuto. The splash shield has to be trimmed for caliper clearance. Here's a pic:

Thanks for the Part number and pic! I was looking at different merc models with these calipers and was getting different results for each car on the raybestos site.

On a side note, did you use the 980100 rotor for the front? From pictures it looks like this is only drilled and not slotted and does not have the black center on it like the 555. I'm somewhat OCD about matching so just wanted to get as close as possible using the same brand.

Thanks!

I had a frustrating time locating rear rotors for this application and finally stumbeled upon the affordable Raybestos 980555. These are not zinc plated but are painted in the non-frictional areas and have 3 slots only as to not cause structural weakness, ligning up with vanes. That is not an issue with the front rotors. There are other choices if you dont mind paying over $300 a set.

I used SRT6 front rotors from R1concept. Expect to pay over $200 a pair for drilled, slotted and plated rotors.

Last 2 pics show how I trimmed the splash shield and caliper position in relation to rotor

Good luck with your shopping and let me know if you are buying from R1concepts. I have a 15% off redemption code I can PM you

Thanks for the info and detailed photos once again! I have the fronts that take the 345mm. I would like to go all out and get those sexy 2pc rotors but can't justify the price for a daily driver . Just looking for decent quality and something that is not going to get rusty / need cleaning all the time. I have enough brake dust to deal with already, hoping to eliminate all that cleaning in one swoop
