Default Newb brake upgrade help.

Hello all, looking for some advice /guidance with a brake upgrade. I have had most of the parts for a while now but with other stuff (new POS house) happening, I have not had time to get the job done.

Unfortunately my wear sensor light has been off and on so the car is telling me it's time. I'll start by saying that I have not done a brake job myself previously, just helped buddies change pads and such on their rides.

Right now my to do list is
1. Check/test rear calipers as they were picked up used
2. Purchase/find any remaining parts needed
3. Paint both sets of calipers and the center section on the front rotors
4. Install + test
5. Stare at ride for way to long with stupid grin

I'll start slow as not to write a novel like usual

1. Check/test rear calipers as they were picked up used:
Is there anything I can do myself to determine if there is anything wrong with the calipers? I understand how they work but testing is another story. I like to know what I'm talking about/looking for before I take them someplace.

I'll get into the rest and post up some pics once things start rolling. Going 4 pot front/rear.
Thanks!
