M remote, and my search function is limited. The OEM set up for the rear tires is a tad over 26". I would think that at a standard height we should be able to install tires with a 27" diameter. Has only one done this? Does anyone see an issue?

 

27 should not be an issue at stock heights. I believe there are a few 285/35 rears out there on lowered rides which is not quite 27 but they work. Only issue I can think of would be speedo being off slightly.

 

I run 285/35/19's on mine FP. They look big. But I haven't had any issues. I am not lowered though. Speedo is off about 1 mph.

 

Thanks guys. I'm a bit confused. I also put 27" diameter tires on my black roadster, and that car was lowerd. I'm trying to put 255/35-20's for my summer rear tires. They are 27" in diameter, and the shop told me the tires were too big, and were hitting the buttom of the wheel well when installing them.

 

Same here no issues with a 285/35/19 but yes ...with stock suspension

 

My rears measure out at 26.5" tall. I am lowered about 1" with a half coil cut. If I hit a bump hard enough I get slight rubbage on the inside of the tire on the wheel well.
My tires are 275/35zr19 Nitto Invos

 

FP i have all the tire sizes and can tell you what will fit example : the 255/35-20 = 10" wide ,,3.5" rim to road and 27" tall and they will fit best to have a lip of at least 2 to 3".
the stock tire is 10" wide 3.5" rim to road and 26.0 tall
265/35-20 is 10.4 wide,,3.7 rim to rode and 27.3 tall will work with stock suspension
295/35-20 ts 11.6 wide 3.5 rim to road and 27.0 tall and will work again you need at least a 2" lip

I know exactly what he's talking about -- it's when the car is on a lift, and the suspension is unloaded, the bigger diameter tires will "scrub" the lower portion of the fenderwell arch (essentially, the trailing edge of the rocker panel).

This is due to the suspension moving forward ever-so-slightly when there's no weight on it.

If he will squeeze it in there, it WILL fit. It's all about the angles

 

x2,,,,,,,,,,,,,, lower the car (on a lift) put a jack under the control arm,,jack it up 2 to 3" and the tires will fit and not run when driving.
With your car on the ground all you need is 1/4" or more from the front of the rear tire to the lowest point of the rocker panel.,( when mine is in the air i can only get a sheet of paper to pass between tire and rocker panel..

 

I have 285/35R19's on my car and they rubbed really bad until I rolled my fenders. I am lowered on Eibach ProKits and have aftermarket wheels though too.

I've been following this too. My 275/30-20's do this exactly. The suspension swings forward when on a lift, then swings back when put back on the ground.
Your shop is correct, but worried for no reason.
