Okay, so I have a red 2005 Crossfire and the pretty, chrome, rims are starting to leak. How much cost/benefit would I get out of them if I had them re-chromed versus buying a new set of rims.
Also, I have a red convertible with a black top. I’ve had the calipers painted red and I can’t decide if I would go for silver or black (to show off the calipers). As Doctor McCoy might say, “Im an accountant, not an engineer.” That’s assuming that his character wasn’t really a doctor… 😉

I think you can guess my answer.... I would get a new set of rims with a totally different design.
That sweet girl has worn out her old shoes (wagon wheels).
Give her the new set of wheels that she deserves.
.
The more ya open up the wheel with fewer spokes the more the rotors and calipers show.
Open up the view with those 5-spoke wheels and you'll be wanting the modern look of vented rotors and higher end calipers.
Just my opinion.
I felt the same about the 5 spoke wheels although I do like the look I feel I then need to dress up the rotors and calipers
I bought these TSW Snetterton wheels and like them a lot

Yup Valk. I remember when you posted those new wheels and, as far as I'm concerned, they are the best looking wheel upgrade I've seen on a XF. I'd love to have them but as my XF has somehow turned into my wife's XF daily driver... Nah, I won't be putting wheels like that on what has somehow become "her" car! I don't even know how this happened but somehow my XF became her XF. Oh well, it happens.
Okay, one more question… my wife was talking with her stepdad tonight and he mentioned putting a tube in the (rim, I’m guessing) to keep it from losing air. I know that it’s a temporary fix, if it’s true… Can anyone elaborate on what he meant and if it’s truly a good short term solution?

Depends on if the leak is from a crack in the rim (complete failure if a crack is very dangerous), or the valve stem, or maybe all you need is to 'break' the bead (inside and outside) and clean it completely (along with checking the tire bead to see if there are cuts in it allowing air to slip out). The only other thing I can think of is a tear/cut somewhere in the tire that is allowing air to pass from inside to the outside. If that issue you might be able to use a tube BUT if you still have the TPMS sensor in the rim it'll most likely 'cut' the tube over time (as the tire 'shifts' inside the rim allowing the two to 'rub'). Good luck!
It's always better to find the leak. You can use a spray bottle with soapy water and spray around the lip and valve stem. The other way is to remove the wheel and submerge it in water to find the leak. A tire shop can find the leak and is the best choice. A tube can work but in the end, the expense of the tube, dismounting and installation, etc. is a bandaid. Take it to a tire shop, please. Stop loosing sleep and inventing extra work and expense over it.

I have the Mandrus Mannheim wheels and love the look. I painted my calipers since you can see them so easily. The gray on the wheels was almost a perfect match for the Graphite Gray.
Of the 3 sets in the opening Post linked to (on Amazon), for sure I would (also) say the Mandrus Mannheim's! Plus look fantastic on your Crossfire !!
I'm not sure if it will fit at all but have you tried looking at mustang bullitt rims, I also think MUGEN makes some similar looking wheels if you are dead set on the looks.
