Angry Module for tpms programming

Installing ' new ' TPMS at each wheel ... '06 Roadster ... Was told by Chrysler dealer that the module that each one is programmed to, is burned out / faulty and needs to be replaced to the tune of $900.00 ..
Does this sound right ?? This is first time since new the TPMS units have been replace as well as new tires installed .. Any comments are welcome .. Mileage on the
roadster now approaching 9800 ... thank you
p.s. is this module located toward the rear of vehicle / drivers side ?

You can buy them used on eBay for way less than 900. I haven't heard of anyone's module going bad. They probably just don't know how to program them or the sensors you purchased are not compatible. The module is inside the garage door opener next to dome light in the front of the car.

I've used the Schrader 20028 and so have many others. They probably don't have the drb 3 anymore so they can use their micropod and it will have the drb 3 emulator. They probably don't have the doughnut magnet anymore which is necessary to activate the sensors during programming.

Good luck to you. You can try another dealership or try to find a forum member that is close by who has the DRB 3 emulator on a laptop that can help you.

This won't end well, but it will cost you a lot of money.
PREDICTION: This particular dealer will never get this working for you.

One of us here is a retired Chrysler engineer, he offers this:

go to a tire shop, in Ft Lauderdale D T Performance and wheels ,,, most of them sell a replacement sensor and they program it there,, i did mine there with all 3 cars and have sent 5 crossfire members there all are still working and all were installed months and or years before the covid that means they work. i don't know which one they use but was told there are only 2 different ones that work on the crossfire. yes the car has to be there to program. so find a store that do yours for around 2 to $400

Ask the mods to combine your two posts about this TPMS issue? That said, you have been a member for more than 6 years and decided to take the car to a dealership? Good luck, but have a large bank account if you keep taking your crossfire to one... I cannot remember how many ppl got taken advantage of, but am confident in guessing HUNDREDS if not thousands....

I fixed my faulty TPMS system with a little piece of flat black electrical tape cut and stuck over that stupid light on the dash. Almost every XF you see for sale has that light on. The tape just vanishes on the dash and you can't tell it is there and so does that stupid light. I drove cars for decades that didn't have that a TPMS on them... I can look at a tire and tell if it is low on pressure so I don't need to spend $100's and $100's of dollars fixing a system I don't need that will just keep failing as time goes by. I get it though... Ya want everything working perfectly but I think I'd rather save that $ for quality tires when the time comes... The tires will outlast the fixed TPMS before it acts up again.

Tires don't last years like new tire pressure sensors that are properly installed and programmed. You make no sense whatsoever.

Have at it and replace all the TPMS you want and spend all the $ you want and tell others to do the same. I won't do it. As my future tire changes come up I'm gonna have those stupid outdated things pulled and get them out of my wheels for good.

Nobody asked your opinion. For the record, I have replaced all my TPMS sensors twice and programmed myself. It was not very expensive and easy to do.

The "thread starter" wanted to know what to do because he wants it done correctly. He didn't ask about electrical tape or what you would personally do.
