Default Rear suspension noise! Maybe?

Completed the front suspension yesterday and all is good up front. NOW I'm hearing noise from the rear and thinking worn bushings somewhere. Used a crowbar under both tires and when lifting don't hear anything. After checking all the various bushings I find nothing worn or obvious. I even took off the fuel pump over and nothing loose. I did find a 4" piece of tree back bouncing inside the cover. Looking at the drive shaft center support bearing I do notice some deterioration of rubber around it but not very serious as my best guess. For now I'm calling it phantom noise hoping someone else has had a similar problem. I do hear a squeek like dry bushing somewhere.

"MAYBE" the noise I hear is the center support bearing. Not sure what a bad bearing is suppose to sound like! MAYBE bearing is good but not the supporting rubber around it bouncing up and down when i drive across small bumps.

UPDATE @ 5:15PM: GOT A CLOSER LOOK AT THE CENTER SUPPORT AND IT IS BAD. NEW BATTERIES IN MY FLASHLIGHT HELPED A LOT! LOL. GRABBED THE SHAFT AND CAN MOVE IT UP AND DOWN. ORDERED NEW BEARING FOR $70.

UPDATE @ 7:00: EBAY NOTIFIED ME BEARING WON'T ARRIVE TILL "FRIDAY!" ALWAYS WAITING FOR PARTS! EBAY IS ALWAYS SLOW DELIVERING. (THEY ARE NOT LIKE AMAZON WITH DELIVERY TRUCKS AND AIRPLANES SO IT'S TO BE EXPECTED.)

I just watched a YouBoob video where they used a two part shell bearing housing. This kind of bearing support is available for Crossfires and would make easy work fixing the rubber bearing support around the bearing assuming the bearing itself is still good. JXB Performance brand name and putting it on 2007 Crossfire!
I JUST LOOKED IT UP ON THEIR WEBSITE AND IT'S "ONLY" $299 FOR A CROSSFIRE. Think I'll save $230 and replace with original OEM style.

WHY IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO FIND A CENTER SUPPORT BEARING FOR A "MANUAL" TRANSMISSION? I COULD ONLY FIND ONE LISTED AS FOR A STANDARD TRANNY AND DOZENS LISTED FOR AUTOMATIC TRANNY'S! Most A/T bearings are half the price of what I paid. I GUESS I SHOULD BE GLAD THAT I FOUND ONE AT ALL! I'M REALLY GETTING TIRED OF GROVELING AROUND "UNDER" MY CAR. I CHANGED MY STEERING DRAG LINK ASSEMBLY, LOWER BALL JOINTS AND UPPER CONTROL ARMS HAVING "MOSTLY" TO LAY ON MY BACK. MY CHEAPO JACK IS NOT VERY GOOD AND I THINK I'LL INVEST IN A FLOOR JACK THAT LIFTS HIGHER. BEEN USING STACKED PIECES OF 2X4 WOOD TO LIFT HIGHER. (I guess I'm just making conversation.)

Stop sourcing your parts on EBAY
Rob at Needswings.com has been a reliable supplier of Crossfire parts since as far back as 2007 here and he is located in Michigan
If he doesn't have your part he can source one or at least get you one
Here is the center support bearing

Had I thought about it I probably would have bought from them. It's same price with shipping but they do support this forum and Crossfires.

Drive shaft center support bearings are the same for manuals and automatics.

If it's on U-tube it has to be right. LOL For the last time, talk to Rob at needswings. He is an expert.

Part numbers are the same for both. Rob sells the correct one. Read the description in the link: https://needswings.com/driveshaft-support-and-bearing

I just bought another 3-ton floor jack that will get the vehicle up about 26" from floor to frame. That will make life a whole lot easier form me moving around underneath working with tools etc. I have four 3-ton jack stands to get the front and rear up and secure. If I took my car to the Auto Hobby Shop on AF Base it would cost me about $60 stall rental with hydraulic lift. So for $45 more I bought a 3-ton jack instead that was on sale. Sooner or later all these noisy worn out parts are going to be fixed and then I can work on the big rust hole in the trunk! But I'm getting close! LoL. Still don't have a lot of money invested in the restoration but lots & lots & lots of labor time involved so it's a good thing I'm retired and can spend the time.

SEEMS LIKE THERE IS ALWAYS "ONE MORE NOISE" TO TRACK DOWN AND IS ALWAYS A PART TO BE REPLACED! LOL HOPE THIS BEARING IS THE LAST ONE FOR AWHILE.

Center support bearing arrived yesterday! Today is the day for changing the bearing. It's a little chilly this morning so I'll start when it warns up a bit. I hope that after changing the bearing I don't hear anymore noises. I'm suspecting there will be, as the bearing does cause a clunk noise but I also her something like rattling as well. (No there's nothing in the trunk!) I've already inspected the rear suspension three times and see nothing wrong. When getting in and out of the car I do hear a little squeak like metal on rubber though. I sprayed WD-40 on all the rubber bushings but squeak still persists.

Putting new drive shaft support bearings in today. "IT ONLY TOOK ME 2.5 HOURS, LAYING ON MY BACK, TO REMOVE THE SIX BOLTS ON EACH END!" Can someone explain how to drop the drive shaft and pull it out the back end? I used a screwdriver to separate shaft from "Rubber Guedos" but there is no room to back off to allow the drive shave to be lowered! There has to be a trick to this. Any help would be appreciated so I can get my car out of the driveway! In the mean time I'm gonna take a coffee break!

UPDATE @5:30PM:
Coffee break over so I went back to work on it. Does removing drive shaft have anything to do with the splines at the u-joint? Do the splines compress giving that little extra room to drop the shaft? I had to give up for today as it wore me out with all up and down and crawling around under the car! A plus is that FEDEX delivered my new 3-ton floor jack this morning and I was able to safely get the car up higher.

All the noise, I thought I heard from the rear, was coming from "very" worn out front shocks, ball joints and upper control arms. Now that I've replaced all those items I'll move on to the rear shocks. Gonna be a pain to remove the rear hatch panels to get at the top nuts securing the shock at their top. I'll bet they have never been replaced before judging on how bad the front shocks were. Already have the KYB shocks and gotta find that ever present rubber on metal squeak that hear when I get in and out of the car!

Side note; New hood pins and fender liners should arrive tomorrow as well. Found my stash of woven fiberglass to be used for repairing the big hole in the hatch floor.

I can't wait to see what the hood pins look like when finished!
