Pierburg 0004781701 fuel pump sl55
I am looking for an SL55 fuel pump. If anyone has one or happens to run across one, I would appreciate it if you could let me know.
Doing a search for SL55 on flea bay returns results for all kinds of pierburg fuel pumps that claim they are the sl55 one but none of them have the part # that I think it is suppose to have 0004781701.
Thanks!

I'll keep my eyes out for a deal for two!
Thanks for the junk yard finds. I had the link for that search tool earlier but can't find it now, could you send me the link? Thanks!

I'm thinking there is an answer but is it the correct one?
great thread find. I didn't see a definitive confirmation but two claims of flow rates. I am surprised that this hasn't been cleared up for sure.
I know a walbro will flow with the 55 pump....not sure the pierburg will. Usually, with the new pulley, 255 walbro or sl55 are the choices. I wouldn't risk the other. I would go with what is known to work. just my .02...good luck...
The SL55 is the Pierburg. Seemingly both the Walbro and Pierburg SL55 are under the same parent company.
I do remember that now that you straightened me out. We have talked about that before. I am running right where I need to be. We ran the 1/2 mile event, and were right there as far as numbers. I didn't save the data log. But I don't want to touch a thing right now either. Hopefully we won't need to crank up the fuel. I may loop the system over the winter, as I have an extra fuel rail to play with. But right now, I like where I am at.... There was another pump out there back in the 65mm day that didn't work, and I thought it was a pierburg pump. Must have been something else. Carry on....

OK - now I'm more confused than ever . . . I've spent many hours researching this on the forum and with google on the internet . . . I still don't have any definitive answers . . . I don't know where the Pierburg part number 0004781701 (in the subject of this thread) came from??
Here's what I THINK I know . . .
The SL55 fuel pump that is often referenced in the forum to make the fuel system upgrade on our SRT6 cars is a Pierburg PN #7.00228.51. From the Pierburg website http://www.wilmink.nl/pierburg/Pierb...stofpompen.pdf , this pump is a model E3L fuel pump (Go to the bottom section of the PDF you'll find at that link and look in the summary area chart. You'll find the Pierburg pump #7.00228.51 specification summary shown there. This pump has a VERY high flow rate of 300 - 360 liters / hour.
OneHundred80 . . . The links you show in your post (for Pierburg and also on the attachment link) go to a Pierburg pump E1F type pump . . . That is not what we need and if you'll look at the specifications for that pump you referenced the flow rates are very low . . . Installing that pump might well lead to AFR problems and engine damage. I suggest you may want to edit your post?
Now, lets make it even more confusing . . .
I ordered an SL55 fuel pump from CarGuts (they specialize in Mercedes salvage so they should know what they are doing). I expected to get a Pierburg #7.00228.51 pump but received a Pierburg #7.28337.00 pump (looks exactly the same). Following up with the folks a CarGuts, they tell me those two part numbers are interchangeable. I'm not so sure . . . Before I invest the time and effort of installing it and THINKING that everything is right, I'd like to see some definitive specifications showing that the flow rates are the same on those two pumps. The part number of the pump I received does not even show up in the Pierburg PDF in the Pierburg website.
Does ANYBODY have the definitive answers on what Pierburg pumps are acceptable to make our high flow fuel system upgrade? I don't have (and don't want) all the fancy Zietronic equipment so I also don't want to install something that I THINK may be right and end up damaging my engine. H E L P!
PS . . . A final note . . . more than one forum member personally advised me to stay away from the Walbro pump telling me that some users have experienced "problems" after installing the Walbro pump. The Pierburg SL55 pump is apparently the current "go to" pump for making the high flow fuel system upgrade. Just sayin' . . .

too many part numbers without easy to find references for the differences....

A =Regular part.
000 = standard item used on various car models.
478 = Fuel system series number.
17 = version.
01 = part number in master listing.
Thanks for that explanation Dave . . . That also matches the Mercedes part number for the Pierburg pump that forum member SRTSWIZZ recently bought on that E-Bay auction listing. Used Pierburg on ebay - $100
AND now I can see from checking out the photos in that E-Bay listing, the part number on that pump is 7.28337.00. That is exactly the same part number that's on the Pierburg pump I received from CarGuts. I'm feeling better about proceeding with that installation now . . .

It is confusing for sure...I just remember problems some had with a particular peirburg when installing the 65mm. You don't want to make a mistake with the 61 or 62mm for sure. I know I put out the part #, but I didn't purchased from Ebay. Not on something like this... Rob, supplied that pump. As stated above, right now I am fine. I even had Bryan look at the data when at the 1/2 mile event to get a second opinion. Don't skimp on this one, be sure if you buy used, you get the #'s correct. My coupe would flat fall on it's nose when it ran out of fuel, and I quit right there until I had the correct pump...
I'm not seeing any specs that show a pump diameter of 65mm. I think OleDoc2U was referencing supercharger pulley sizes not fuel pump diameters . . . According to the spec chart on the Pierburg website, the pump diameter is 43.2mm
