Default 3-piece windshield surround

I'm looking for a set in excellent condition - including the mounting clips - with no chips on the edges and has not been painted (over the original silver).

If you got to a Chrysler Dealer, be prepared to empty your wallet, a complete set lists is around $925 for all 3 pieces! 3
Good Luck in your search for a cheap set......

Hi,

I am also looking for this part, any idea on the part number from the service part catalog for these items?

Do they come separate or you have to buy them as a 3-piece set?

Thumbs up Re: 3-piece windshield surround

Gentlemen: I had the same problem ( I assume yours need painting). I ordered a 12"x60" piece of Silver Carbon Fiber Wrap from SimCarbon for around 20.00 and applied it myself...simple to do and looks sharp. I also covered the side "bullets",,,easy installation and according to the vendor will last at least 5-6 years... Carl

I had no idea that others were also looking for these three pieces - and that their going rate is quite high. I will say that the design and means of attachment is quite sophisticated - though for the latter, it is definitely overkill. A bear (at least for me) to unsnap, then later install. Lots of various types of screwdrivers were used in the operation.

I used an industrial type paint. This makes no sense, but the outer layer is perfectly smooth after the final 2500 grit sanding, but you look at it once polished out, and there is a lot of orange peel.

However, not the major problem for me. I feel the medium to dark red paint I used is way too bright in the daytime, though looks great (at least to me) in the shade or evening. I'll also add that I painted my aftermarket 3-piece mesh grill the same color and it is fine because of the black behind it.

I will be sanding forever to get the windshield surround entirely smooth before repainting since the industrial paint is made to take a beating and I applied three coats.

I finally got around to photographing the front after completing my 'paint job'.

No offense, but should any of you (most likely) have a few years on you and are at a point where you're still into mods, but only subtle ones - give me your opinion of the red.

No offense young studs, but I'd expect I'd get an answer something like, "Should be brighter and you should also do the wheels and side striations in red."

I personally like this shade of red later in the day and it's very cool at night. However, since the sun shines a lot here, I feel the red should be more than a few degrees darker.

Comments?

Well you asked... so I'll play along.. LOL.

I'm seeing more of a red trim over chrome along the edges of the grills instead of completely painted out. Just a little much red for my taste. Or maybe blacked out grilles with the red trim. Kinda keeps along the red trim look around the windshield thing.

This isn't meant to sound like I'm on the defense, just how the red came about. The silver windshield surround on the black car Really jumped out at me.

When I ordered the aftermarket grill and lower pieces, I had them painted black (where they were made). The front then looked like a black hole - way too subdued for my tastes, however, chrome is too blingy in my opinion.

But thank you for your opinions.

I feel that the red on the windshield trim should be much darker. It seems much brighter than the red of the grills and looks a bit overpowering compared to the rest of the car. The chrome wings also look out of place wih the red/black scheme. If it were my car I would black them out to make them blend in with the overall theme of the rest of the car. If you wanted them to stand out a bit from the rest of the black of the car you might consider black chrome paint for them. It retains a dark look but has a deep chrome like sheen that sets it apart from the rest of the black.
Just my thoughts/opinions on the matter.

We're already under a state of emergency here in Dufferin County but my head of security has now been alerted to be on the look out for a old guy and his two known goofy looking accomplices.

I thought YOU were one of his goofy looking accomplices?

MoparFreak69, it is my understanding that the wings are made of plastic. If I'm wrong, the black chrome is a great idea. And, yes, definitely a darker red on the windshield surround. The black behind the grill parts makes them appear darker, but most likely I will also paint them the same darker red.

I have a limited amount of automotive paint swatches and when I go to a dark enough red to make it subtle in bright light, in limited light it becomes almost as black as the actual black.

I am quite a bit younger than you at 30 and fancy a mod or two, but IMHO that is anything but subtle.
